As the summer holiday countdown (kind of) begins, we’ve teamed up with Where’s Wally? to find out your top tips for keeping the kids entertained on long journeys and wet days…

To celebrate the publication of Where’s Wally? In Outer Space and Across Lands activity books, with tonnes of Where’s Wally? activities and 100 stickers in each book, we’ve put together this ultimate keep-the-kids-busy prize.

Mumsnetters loved Where’s Wally? The Colouring Book:

“Quiet, concentration, sharing, agreeing... and all four of those things at the same time! Big hit in this household” FeelingSmurfy

“Fantastic detail on every page - these are the real deal compared to trendy 'mindfulness' colouring books” debjani

Share your top tips for keeping the kids entertained on long journeys to be in with a chance of winning a Where’s Wally? activity book set including Where's Wally? The Colouring Book, In Outer Space and Across Lands, plus a bumper colouring kit!

If you haven’t already seen Where’s Wally? The Colouring Book, check out this created on a wet Sunday afternoon – 4 ½ hours of colouring fun with a very quiet 7 and 5-year-old…

This discussion is sponsored by Walker Books and will end 21 July

A good variety of music in the car is essential. No snacks for us as both DC get car sick. Instead lots of distractions - many rounds of I-spy and each counting the number of our chosen colour of cars on the motorway. DD likes to try and follow the route on a map.

On trains or ferries a good magazine or activity book is essential - one with lots of stickers and puzzles.

Plenty of water and snacks in the car, so even if we're stuck in traffic its not as bad.

Long audio books - we've enjoyed listening to Harry Potter, Terry Pratchett, Moomins and all sorts of other books in the car.

DS likes having the sat nav and telling us the speed limit Blush and directions. Which is great if you know where you're going!

DVDs usually kept my DD quiet!

Also used audio books, and CDs of music she liked.

We always make sure that we have plenty of water and snacks- non messy snacks so that in the event of spillage it's not the end of the world!

Colouring book and pens, something to read, a notebook to write/draw in. And DD always takes a handful of figurines to play with. Very handy on holiday etc as she takes them to the beach.

We get the kids to make up their own cds as well and they take turns to have their music on in the car.
