Recommendations for a picture book about fish?

18 month old DD loves books and is currently obsessed with fish, so we thought we'd spend some of her Christmas money on a new story. We already have Barry The Fish With Fingers, but any others starring (or heavily featuring) fish would be good.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Omg, Hurrah for Fish was loved in our house! So much so, that even 10 years on we're still using done of the 'fishes' in our family vocab.

"You're being a bit of a Grumpy Fish!" Etc.

Love it!

Julia Donaldson one is Sharing a shell I think
Our all time favourite is Commotion in the Ocean
www.amazon.co.uk/Commotion-Ocean-Orchard-Picturebooks-Andreae/dp/184121101X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1453188260&sr=1-1&keywords=commotion+in+the+ocean
I really can recommend it enough, read reviews on amazon

I second The Fish That Could Wish.

Finola1step · 18/01/2016 23:16

Fidgety Fish by Ruth Galloway. My ds loved it at that age. It was the book we had to read every night for months.

Groovester · 18/01/2016 23:13

Barry the fish with fingers 😄

NotCitrus · 18/01/2016 23:12

That's not my fish. Its thingy is too wotsit.

NotCitrus · 18/01/2016 23:09

For 18mo, Jack Tickle's pop-up The Very Funny Fish - huge hit here even after the anglerfish light has been stuck back on with sellotape again...

NotCitrus · 18/01/2016 23:08

Mr Seahorse, Tiddler, and any of the Octonauts books which will be suitable soon (age 2+)

The Cat in the Hat has a goldfish in a key role, and also One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.

The Snorgh and the Sailor has some wonderful sea creatures and is a lovely story about expanding your horizons.

constancef · 18/01/2016 22:35

What's the Dr Seuss one that starts One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish?

mrsmortis · 14/01/2016 10:19

Whoops - rouge apostrophe there...

mrsmortis · 14/01/2016 10:17

I know that Whale's aren't fish but how about the Snail and the Whale

queenoftheboys · 14/01/2016 04:32

I second Mr Seahorse by Eric Carle.

slightlyglitterbrained · 14/01/2016 04:30

The Julia Donaldson book about a hermit crab, is that Sharing A Shell? Crab, anemone and bristleworm share a shell. That has some fish but they aren't the main chars (just try to eat them!)

everythingispeachy · 14/01/2016 04:19

I came in to say hooray for fish and tiddler too but there's also a far few fish in the Snail and the Whale also by Julia Donaldson

Marzipants · 14/01/2016 03:37

Another vote for Hooray for Fish. It's mercifully short too.

BatMobile · 14/01/2016 03:35

Tip Tap Went the Crab is good. Admittedly quite crab-focused, but lots of fish too. And numbers / counting.

mawbroon · 14/01/2016 01:49

There's another Julia Donaldson one about a hermit crab, the name of which escapes me right now..

NoSquirrels · 13/01/2016 22:12

Mister Seahorse by Eric Carle. Loads of fish, with interesting info about them, and lovely interactive pages.

Creatureofthenight · 13/01/2016 21:56

Tip tap went the crab by Tim Hopgood - can't remember how many fish, but follows a crab from the beach to the deep sea, good for that age too.

PeaceLoveAndMincePies · 13/01/2016 21:50

I have I Want My Hat Back. Apologies for the confusion. No fish therein.

Longdistance · 13/01/2016 21:37

The Rainbow fish. Love how the fish sparkles in the book.

maamalady · 13/01/2016 21:29

Yeah, This Is Not My Hat is a fish book - a bit lacking in colour for such a small child though, I think. I do love it myself (and I Want My Hat Back), and DD will no doubt receive them in the next couple of years!

She is now the proud owner of Hooray For Fish and very enthusiastic about it. Fabulous pictures indeed. Thanks all for suggestions!

Does That's Not My Hat have fish in it!?

Theknacktoflying · 13/01/2016 20:32

There's also Commotion in the Ocean - poetry about sea creatures
