When little children begin to expand their horizons, the results are often hilarious and make a surprising amount of sense - mustard tastes "spiky", radiators are "radiheaters". This week we're asking you what funny things your DC has got mixed up about, for a chance to win a Little Mouse hamper.

In The Mouse Who Reached the Sky, Little Mouse sees something red and shiny hanging from a tree and thinks it’s a marble, but Mole is sure it’s a balloon and Rabbit says it’s a ball! Petr Horá?ek perfectly captures the adorable mix-ups children make when they are small, in a charming story to be shared time and time again.

Download the How To Draw Little Mouse activity sheets here and here , and watch the How to Draw Little Mouse video here:

Share your sweet stories for the chance to win this gorgeous Little Mouse hamper including three Little Mouse books by Petr Horacek, activities, stickers and a signed, limited edition Little Mouse print for your child’s bedroom.

This competition is sponsored by Walker Books, and closes on Tuesday 1 September.

My little boy invented the word 'prack', which is a thing that spikey things do to you - "mummy, that thistle pracked me". We all use it now.

FeelingSmurfy · 03/08/2015 23:26

"Man with not hair" shouted when he saw a bald man

He also refuses to accept blonde hair, "YELLOW hair" his logic is that there is black, brown(brunette but often called brown), white, grey hair so it should be yellow...he has a point...

Wannabechic1 · 03/08/2015 23:18

My 3 year old asked me to hand her the loo serviette ( referring to baby wipes)

And we all refer to my tablet computer as ' the pink thing' because it has a pink cover.

Once she got a horse shaped helium balloon and screamed at warned us not to touch it or it would lose its magic and not be able to fly ( like the ponies in my little pony)Smile

Sylviesleep · 03/08/2015 23:16

My son calls his favourite biscuits "jammie Jommers" - yep, you've guessed it "Jammie Dodgers"! The whole family now call them Jammie Jommers.

OnMyShoulders · 03/08/2015 23:15

My little boy was talking about when we saw Aladdin at the Christmas panto. He mixed up Wishee Washee and Widow Twankey and said 'Mummy, mummy! Remember Winky Wankey! Grin

Ds calls automatic doors automagic doors or magic doors. A boomerang is a zoomerang. Dd used to say she had fizzy feet when she had pins and needles. The other day she invented the word minimumised rather than minimize.

StompyBlueNose · 03/08/2015 23:08

Just remembered the funny moment when Ds pointed over at the wine stand and shouted 'look that's daddy's juice'!!!

StompyBlueNose · 03/08/2015 23:05

Dd likes to ring the 'ding bell' rather than the 'door bell'. She also calls 'love hearts', 'heartbeats', which we all find very sweet! Smile

RugMugTug · 03/08/2015 23:03

Oh and she is rather partial to a green chip (green beans Wink)

midgeymum2 · 03/08/2015 23:03

Awww sneezing! My dd says "bless you me" when she sneezes!

RugMugTug · 03/08/2015 23:02

Dd1 who is 3 says:

  • hecalopter (helicopter)
  • amials (animals)
  • at sleep / at wake (asleep / awake)
  • busy (dizzy)
  • haircutters (hairdressers)

The other day I asked her to go see what daddy was doing and she said "getting rid of his prickles" - he was having a shave.

She also proudly tells people that "mummy bestfeeds my sister" when talking about dd2.

allybird1 · 03/08/2015 22:57

Oh yes, like sleepyfergus my little boy thinks the past tense of sneeze is 'mummy i snoozed'. cute.

purplepandas · 03/08/2015 22:55

We like to eat flower cheese (cauliflower cheese). It has stuck!

allybird1 · 03/08/2015 22:52

My little ones always describe daddies lack of hirsutism as 'baldy hair', it cracks me up.

midgeymum2 · 03/08/2015 22:50

My dd likes to wear her sunshine trousers (shorts) and when asked what she wants for Christmas replied "bubble sprouts" - for making bubbles in the bath!! Blush

Sleepyfergus · 03/08/2015 22:45

Also just remembered that the Despicable Me films were referred to as 'Despickle Me' as she couldn't say despicable.

Sleepyfergus · 03/08/2015 22:44

Dd1 sometimes does something between a sneeze and what sounds like a bark. She named this a 'snark' and my younger dd2 finds this hilarious.

AdamantEve · 03/08/2015 22:39

My daughter has always referred to Coco Pops as "Poo Poo Pops" after mishearing their name.
Goodness knows what people think we feed her!

Jenni2legs · 03/08/2015 22:18

Underpants are onion pants in our house :)

Twolefttoes · 03/08/2015 22:15

When ds had goosebumps he described it as having lots of hard peas on his legs Grin.

He also asked if he could use daddy's medicine...he meant his computer tablet.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 03/08/2015 22:11

My daughter gets head aches in her knees, her tummy and her 'bow (elbow)... anywhere except her head. As in:

Mummy I have a head ache here and one in my leg :(

Chickenandpenguin · 03/08/2015 22:03

And youngest ds (2) thinks all spiders/insects are called Spider-Man and can often be found shouting Spider-Man randomly staring at the tiniest insect. Beyond cute. I'm never correcting them!

Chickenandpenguin · 03/08/2015 22:01

My eldest ds (3.5) has heard the word disgusting a few times. He understands what it means and now solemnly declares at most mealtimes (sadly) , mummy, I can't eat this, it has gust in it.
Grin

sosopurple · 03/08/2015 21:58

My daughter calls a trampoline a jumpaline, which seems much more accurate.
My son calls spaghetti forgetti, and my older son used to call his elbow his armbow
i love toddler language - it makes so much more sense.

Dolallytats · 03/08/2015 21:46

When DD1 was little and went to nursery she was given pineapple as part of her lunch. She told them it tasted too bright.

She's 22 now and the things she used to say still make me smile. Pavements were paper mints, dogs were goggums and snow was bubbles.
