Favourites are gingerbread man, three little pigs, three bears. We've also got gruffalo.

Any suggestions? I'm particularly looking for modern ones that I might not find otherwise.

TIA

Aww Duck in a Truck, loved that book.

What shall we do with the Boo-
Hoo baby? is great as well.

vespalover · 11/03/2013 23:17

Definitely Toddle Waddle

MoonlightandRoses · 11/03/2013 23:14

Definitely the Emily Gravett and Eric Carle books (and try Baby Bear, Baby Bear What Do You See? by EC too).

Also, Peepo (J & A Ahlberg), The Tiger Who Came To Tea (J.Kerr), and The Pig in the Pond (M.Waddell) are good for rhymes/repetition.

Probably already said, but The Elephant and the Bad Baby has a wonderful repeating, building up chorus. And Shark in the Park.

Turnipsoup · 10/03/2013 01:36

Kiss Goodnight Sam- not rhyming but lots of repitition and a lovely bedtime story.

Have just ordered room on the broom and duck in the truck. I think I'll look into Hairy McLairy next month (or at the library).

Thank you all very much!!!!

Chocolate mousse for greedy goose

alwayslateforwork · 09/03/2013 15:49

Charlie cook's favourite book

In fact, anything by julia Donaldson, there are zillions, loads mentioned above. Romm on the broom was the outstanding favourite here by miles and miles.

Commotion in the ocean.

Farmyard Hullaballoo

Rumble in the jungle

Any of the duck books

Mine, at 13, 11 and 9, can still recite pretty much the entire books mentioned because they were read them so much at 2.

mummybare · 09/03/2013 15:44

I second The Snail and the Whale, Monkey Puzzle and A Squash and a Squeeze
Also Tiddler The Story-telling Fish, Stick Man

I also second Dragon Stew and Going on a Bear Hunt
Also The Bear in the Cave

MisForMumNotMaid · 09/03/2013 15:40

The snail and the Whale. It rhymes and the pictures show the story.

My DD is just two and she loves lift the flap 'dear zoo' and doing all the animal noises.

AnonymousBird · 09/03/2013 15:37

The Duck in the Truck... truly and utterly joyous for our DC when they were 3 and 2. We had to read it EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. for about 3 months.

PeasandCucumbers · 09/03/2013 14:40

Was joining the thread to suggest Monkey and Me but obviously several people got there first Smile

StillStuck · 08/03/2013 19:35

I read two with ds today that made me think of this thread: the odd egg, by emily gravett, which is brilliant fun with beautiful, witty pictures, and a story with repetition

And the elephant and the bad baby, by raymond briggs (I think) funny story, lots of repetition and very memorable

StillStuck · 06/03/2013 22:32

dragon stew is great, very funny and a wonderful rhyming story

If you go walking in tiger wood
One bear falls out of bed
There's a dinosaur counting one (think its called 'stomp roar')

Have a look at the Book People or Red Door/Barn (??) Booksellers. They do amazing value packs of books that cost a fraction of the shops.

BikeRunSki · 03/03/2013 07:32

Monkey and Me
Toddle Waddle

Leeds2 · 03/03/2013 00:03

We're Going On a Bear Hunt.

Goldensunnydays81 · 02/03/2013 22:57

My ds who is 2 loves we are going on a bear hunt! And that has got lots of repetitiveness in it!!

acsec · 02/03/2013 22:34

Walking through the jungle

Hippee · 02/03/2013 22:23

"Cows in the kitchen" has been a surprise hit

"Fix-it Duck" is even better than "Duck in the Truck" in my opinion.

"That's not funny" - it's about poo, but even I think it's fun.

"There's an ouch in my pouch"

Anything by Julia Donaldson.
