Oh Jura, come talk to us....

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

New Swedish aupair coming in a week's time.

Jura, she does sound like a space cadet. As for finishing the last cider on Sunday morning, well, that would be the last straw for my dh.

Hope the next one is better. They ARE out there ... I hope.

squiffy · 25/08/2008 12:25

Blimey, two Swedish AP's off the rails? Are they all going feral on us?

There goes my best WOHM/SAHM argument. Bugger.

MatNanPlus · 25/08/2008 12:21

Please do as current family have just come to the mutual aggreement with swedish AP that it isn't the job for her 6 wks on, last week on holiday really tipped the scales on both sides.

Harriet - that's the horrible thing. When I was looking for my new AP I saw my old nanny on one of the sites looking for work. I kept wanting to warn all my MN friends that she was on the prowl . She's found a job now and I assume that with each experience she will learn, and get better. Maybe.

But I still keep an eye out in case any MNers start talking about someone that sounds like her.... I wouldn't like them to go through any of the stuff we had to.

Besides revenge dishes are definately best served cold - we cheerfully point the debt collectors to her boyfriends' workplace (she left it as a forwarding address) - he has a v responsible job and will be mortified when they start turning up there (one or two of them tell me this will be happening soon. hahahahahahaha).

Millarkie · 25/08/2008 10:38

Surely drinking the last cold pear cider - no matter what time of day, should be counted as gross misconduct in itself.

(Quickly scribbles another entry onto the examples of gross misconduct in nanny's contract )

I was trying to tell dh about your ap but he got side-tracked by the rocket design and was very enthusiastic about it - thank goodness we didn't employ her - the two of them would be redesigning the Enterprise whilst I kept the children occupied!

imananny · 25/08/2008 10:33

booze at 10.30am now pm yes

sounds as if you are def well rid of her tbh - did you ever get to see the plans of space rocket?

WideWebWitch · 25/08/2008 09:52

OMG Jura, she sounds a nightmare, good luck with finding a replacement.

HarrietTheSpy · 25/08/2008 01:17

Jura
I'm really curious. Is the au pair whose just blasted off still on the sites as looking for work?

I'm convinced if we get one, it will be one of the duds someone on here just excommunicated.

Oh No Jura. I've been following your posts as we have just made the transition from nanny to au pair too. Hope you can find a replacement soon (one on planet Earth this time). Good luck.

Hi Jura - sorry to hear it hasn't worked out. Our last nanny left in May and we have survived intact since then but I do think that we may reconsider our summer holiday arrangements for next year. Our present approach (daily cleaner who does the school collection and cooks tea) works well in term time but the children need a little more attention in the holidays than she is trained/equipped to give them and I'm left feeling a bit guilty about not being there more.

In my experience the first week of any new arrangement is fraught and it generally settles down a bit thereafter - but I've never had anyone forget to feed the children and it sounds like your troubles weren't just teething problems.

Hopefully you'll get sorted soon - I don't envy you the horrible process of change.

imananny · 23/08/2008 15:58

OH no Jura (hugs)

though think it is for the best - hope you find someone soon x

waves bye to space rocket

Is that all we get? Not exactly the juicey bit of I gossip I was poised for.

Oh well, glad she took it well.

Soooooo..... what is plan B? au pair? nanny? Become a SAHM?
