She dosn't earn enough to pay tax.

jillyj · 03/08/2008 20:53

but doesnt that make her liable for tax

Shoshe · 03/08/2008 17:10

Mine signs a receipt from me, and I just add it to expenses.

jillyj · 03/08/2008 17:04

OP posts:
MrsFluffleHasAWuffle · 02/08/2008 16:00

I was under the impression we could only have carpets and sofas cleaned once a year - well I mean claim for it once a year? Can't recall where I heard that though!

I have an accountant in my family who is going to be bombarded with calls now!!

Shoshe · 02/08/2008 15:42

MrsFluff, been doing it a long time, have lots of expenses

I even managed to get myfirst dishwasher on my expenses, as I argued why would We (when DH is away 9 months of the year) have needed one if not for the business

Have you claimed for cleaning carpets? I bought a carpet cleaner and put that on as I have to clean them at least once amonth.

Car Valet? I have it done once a Term and claim for it.

I have a cleaner 3 hours a week and claim that as well.

hertsnessex · 02/08/2008 15:37

i paid nothing last yr for earning more than that due to expenses etc.

MrsFluffleHasAWuffle · 02/08/2008 15:35

Thanks for that link shoshe

Shoshe · 02/08/2008 15:34

You will get it down a lot before you know it PC

I even claimed for the pet rats, and all their equipment and food.

Well two grown people wouldnt want rats would they

MrsFluffleHasAWuffle · 02/08/2008 15:33

well a couple hundred anyway lol I misread it, but every little helps!!

Shoshe · 02/08/2008 15:32

It's just being a 'creative' accountant PC

MrsFluffleHasAWuffle · 02/08/2008 15:28

Yup Pink ( may I call you Pink? lol)

there are examples on hwo to work it out here www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/bimmanual/BIM45750.htm
looks like you can get quite a fair whack off with that

PinkChick · 02/08/2008 15:27

LOL..thats what my business advisor said to me when he told me the amount you can earn before submitting receipts had gone up to £30k+..dopnt know if i could do that...

OP posts:
MrsFluffleHasAWuffle · 02/08/2008 15:25

yup Pinkchick as I said above sorry!

so if you are left with 10k and take off the 6350, you are being taxed at 20% on whatever is left.

Read the above links and see if you can claim for anything else to bring it down. Don't forget that if you have bought secondhand and bootsale stuff you don't need reciepts and also small purchases under £10 you don't need to provide reciepts for, so make sure you ahev rememebred all those little things you have bought or make some up!! ooh no I didn't say that!

PinkChick · 02/08/2008 15:23

that Mrs, will ready those later when more time, but quickly glanced..did that say we can claim mortgage interest?

OP posts:
PinkChick · 02/08/2008 15:20

ok, just checked my acocunt online, im only about £40 off that amount(if that IS the amount i have to pay, wont really know until i do it online i guess)..bit gutted though as i thought i had saved way above what i needed, my ignorance i guess, just glad i DID save that much

MrsFluffleHasAWuffle · 02/08/2008 15:18

childmindinghelp.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=2734

that should work!

And check this one out too www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/bimmanual/BIM52751.htm

And this is very interesting re Mortgage interest relief - I know we can claim portion of rent but now it seems we could claim portion of mortgage too

www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/bimmanual/BIM45745.htm
Which is all very interesting!
