Got your CAT

I only work for teachers at DH school

Also I am not in Hanwell

I think you have me muddled up with someone else

Saabs come from their mummy's tummies, RTKM. Doesn't everyone know that ?

deeofhub... I like that!

Thanks for the congrats. It is exciting. I am becoming a pram / nappy bore... Oh, and dw hasn't puked in 1 1/2 weeks so maybe I can finally stop being so darned nice.

hub2dee · 11/02/2005 18:16

RTKM: work (if you can call it that) from home. Have taken time off to do building work on the house, did an extensive redesign the garden (it's come out super nice, only needs lavish planting now) and develop some 'smarthome' systems - bits and bobs for intelligent buildings / home automation / etc.

Contemplating launching business in smarthome space, else PhD in smarthome applications for particular client groups (assisted living, people with health problems (weight / blood pressure, babies (reassuring sleep disturbances, early learning etc.). And if I don't do either of those, a venture philanthropy business to do with collection of change from transactions at retail POS (tills) for charity / disaster relief.

I think the convertable bit is better because it changes the shape

What would Dee like to discuss?

And see if we can oblige

pmsl @ tyre pressure thing

Actually do have a thing for unlocking wheels in glove compartment.

yes it is the old saab that I think does look weird.

Where are saabs from is it sweden?

They know I'm a man cos of that foul smell.

Welcome to our private inner sanctum of car gadget discussions, secur. RTKM is poised to divulge the fact that she had to sell her kids' pushchairs to pay for a special tyre pressure warning light on her Volvo...

Yes, My wife's name is Dee. I am her hubby. We are pg with first. She isn't on MN (yet) but maybe if you both post something she can't resist I can (finally) persuade her that she should register and post. Infact all lurkers are welcome to demand her appearance !

Anyway, Saab shape is a bit odd. Infact I dislike the older 'fastback / coupé shape a lot, and the saloons aren't much to look at, but I think the convertibles are OK. There is a new 'sportswagon' shape coming out which should be quite funky.

I heard about the Renault keyless thing. Clever idea.

The thing is don't like the shape of outside of saab IMHO.

Ignition sounds cool

My friend has renault with card ignition or may be push button can't remember exactly

OP posts:
hub2dee · 11/02/2005 16:54

Phone system sounds fab.

If you want your car to look like a cockpit on a plane you need a Saab - proper aviation heritage - Ignition key by the handbrake !

RTKangaMummy · 11/02/2005 13:19

The 2nd handset is in arm rest and looks like a regular phone and has a wire

so if someone [not driver] wants a private conversation they can use it

The keypad is in dashboard

But the controls are 2 buttons on steering wheel. [YES] and [NO] and volume etc.

One of my friends said that my car looks like a cockpit on a plane.

Car phone sounds like a possibly good idea will investigate...

Yeah, dw reads through some of the threads. She liked the Volvo discussions !

RTKangaMummy · 11/02/2005 11:55

yes car has its own phone number

Actually don't use the bluetooth thingy any more really

The car phone is programmed into mobiles anyway

all our friends ring that one first when they know we are driving

Also it is set to auto answer after 2 rings so you don't need to press button on steering wheel.

It can also send and receive texts

The TV would really be dangerous if picture was there over 3 mph, it ends up like listening to a radio. The map comes on the screen when driving or can cancel it and screen goes back into dash board.

Do you end up saying to your DW XXXXXXX said "blah bah" then telling her about something that was on mumsnet?

OP posts:
hub2dee · 11/02/2005 11:42

Yeah, I joined the 'due in July 2005' thread before our dates got pushed back one week, and said hi... I guess it's just not dw's thing. Also I type faster! It is fairly odd being on a nearly 100% women's chat network, but I wanted to get the low down on so many things: prams, nappies, pregnancy, childbirth etc. etc. that I've found it v. useful.

"DH doesn't really do computer either".... hmmm... possibly much healthier.... probably means they're just much busier !!!

The C8 is a Citroen, yes. Fiat / Peugeot / Citroen all worked on one chassis together so there are three cars which are virtually identical on the market.

So, your SIM card in the dash means your car has its own number ? That is cool... but don't you / dh always end up phoning each other's personal mobile numbers first, and then trying the car second ? Could just add to frustration ? Personally, I hate mobiles and gave mine up years ago, but will have to get one soon to keep dw sweet

You must be able to hack the 3mph / when stopped feature on the Volvo TV. Bet some geeky hacker has figured out how to do it !

RTKangaMummy · 11/02/2005 10:21

DW could join the ante natal group here
