Terrible nursery!

So my child has been going to kid play childcare for 18 months. I never really had a problem till a few months ago. My daughter takes an inhaler to nursery and we aren’t issued a spare from the doctors due to nhs cut backs apparently so she takes one to nursery every day. Anyway when she goes there it’s in her bag wrapped and sealed. They know this and should remove it from her bag and put it in the cupboard. On this occasion they didn’t and children got hold of it they said and then they forgot to put it back on her bag (they told me this). I told someone higher up through a feedback form - because the complaints form wasn’t loading on their website, and was told it’ll be dealt with and it never was.
it then happened again last week. I was told
yl
my face that on Thursday children got into her bag and must of got her inhaler out before them and they put it in a cupboard or different cupboard and didn’t put it back in her bag for home time. We were left without one when they were then shut and she needed one so I had to use a friends!! I escalated a formal complaint that night. Was told on Friday it’ll be dealt with seriously and immediately as that’s a major concern. It then happened again on Friday! I went back to the nursery in time to get it from them. No apologies or anything!

I escalated this complaint yet again and to ofsted. I’ve asked them for a detail or everything broken down and also apologies and accountability and I’ve had nothing. A higher up manager visited the nursery and said ‘well maybe we coukd keep her bag and inhaler in the main office (3 doors away) from my child’s classroom!? I said surely
this isn’t ok as it should be kept with her at all times. They then backed down.
they’ve then tried to claim more hours from the government funding from her than they should including getting money from me. I have contact early years and they agreed and said they have messed the form up. I’ve then been given three different paf forms to sogn
all
woth different funded hours on and they’ve now sent me huge bills which seem to just go up and up for their mistake on funding which doesn’t even add up. They’re adamant it’s correct however they have been wrong last term and the whole 18 months she’s been there.
they all stand there and gossip about other mums over the fence and I felt like the issue has escalated to a point where I don’t feel like my child’s safe and the complete negligence and stress they’ve put me and my child under means I’ve pulled her out immediately and now have no childcare because they’ve took her funding for the term and I can’t afford privately. I am seeking
legal advice but I just wanted to speak on here to see if anyone
a: knows where I stand.
B: had any issues with them too.
c: has had a similar issue in general and outcome.

Thanks for reading so far x

I'm struggling to fully understand the issue. The inhaler not being placed back in her bag is wrong and forgetful of them, but for such an important thing, you should be checking on collection that you have it.

The invoice mistakes are an admin problem and you need to articulate why you think thwy are wrong, if they are so sure they are right? If they had to reduce their claim then it makes sense that your portion went up.

It doesn't sound like the nursery staff are giving you confidence to be looking after your daughter well. Regardless of Ofsted's view etc, I would be pulling her out due to your lack of faith in them. Try somewhere else or a childminder with good reviews.

It sounds chaotic and obviously if you are not happy you should remove your child BUT you should be handing over the inhaler separately every morning with a conversation and then checking it has been returned to you every night. I appreciate they have a part to play in this too and should be but so do you - we all have to take responsibility for ourselves (whilst they also need to do their bit). If her asthma is such that she cannot be without one at home it should also be foremost on your mind to check so I think that is on you. As for it being kept with her at all times - it needs to be somewhere they can easily access it should she become wheezy so as long as the office is easily reachable (and nurseries don’t tend to be that big) then I think that is fine. It should go out with them on any trips.

the payments - outline clearly exactly where they have over charged so you can get a clear response from them.

I don’t think you have recourse for legal action at all - you’d be wasting your time and money!

Didn’t you check it was there before you left nursery? My dc don’t have medication like that but we definitely check they have bags, coats, water bottles etc before leaving school. It’s standard practice for parents at pick up.
