Morning everyone

Just have DD to sort out and get to school this morning before mindee arrives as this is my short and quiet day and I enjoy that.

Only cheerios and mini choc weetabix for breakfast this morning as I don't have all the other fancy stuff that you all have.

crace - YOU worry I'm over-stretching, wish dh would!! It's not that he doesn't care, it's just that our circumstances are the way they are so we don't have much choice. I've been in tears many times about it and tried to explain to dh that it's the ages that make it so hard and the routine I have etc. Even the midwife said that I was overdoing it when I explained the faint/dizzy spells I've been having but what can you do?! This is why at this moment in time I really wish I was in a 'normal' job where I could think about my health and have some time off and be paid and not be letting anyone down in a major way iykwim. When I get the tears it's more the worry about how I'm going to be the further along I get, if I'm feeling like this already!

Anyway, I shouldn't moan. You're much further gone (can't remember how many weeks you are but I know it's more than my 30 weeks on Monday) and you're really suffering too I bet you can't wait for those 3 weeks to pass!!!

I'm off to bed now as knackered after a late night last night. Enjoy your weekend everyone

crace oh my god - i think i'll buy that fox - now who do i hate that much? l o f l

erm. . . mo. . . . i have 3 cake stands i LurVE them !!!!!

crace · 11/04/2008 20:17

No, i understand that LT and that makes you a good c/m. I must say that this far into it, it's getting difficult, and I have 3 weeks left with 3 weeks break before c/s date. At the end of each day it's getting very difficult - the end of the week is very uncomfortable. I worry about you over stretching!

looneytune · 11/04/2008 19:50

crace - last day is 6th June and I officially notified everyone and they're all expecting that. For some reason I thought I was stopping 3 weeks before baby is due but it's 2 weeks. Never mind, my f* up, don't want to mess people about by changing it.

crace · 11/04/2008 19:48

That fox is crazy, but different strokes and all that.. not in my tastes, but that didn't stop me from sending it onto various friends. teehee. Ain't MN great?

crace · 11/04/2008 19:47

LT - whatcha mean? Can't you just change the date you are finishing?

looneytune · 11/04/2008 19:45

I'm ok thanks Mo, apart from the fact I f*'d up with the maternity leave and haven't got 3 weeks off before baby is due, only took 2 weeks off Never mind!

PMSL at the cake stand!!

Crace - fingers crossed

MaureenMLove · 11/04/2008 19:26

Sod off! Its horrid!

O M G! That fox! Surely to god, that is a joke, right? But, as we know, there's nowt stranger than folk! I've got some rather attractive woodcarved elephant lamp stands, that DH's grandad had made in Berma in the war. They have pride of place - under the bed!

shoshe · 11/04/2008 19:19

But Momo, they lwove you , so you have to tweasure it

crace · 11/04/2008 19:18

No? no foxes? pmsl

MaureenMLove · 11/04/2008 19:17

Er no. It just isn't going to fit in my new all singing, all dancing mod cons kitchen! The thing that bothers me most, is that I have been to the tip 8 times this week, clearing out all trace of under 12's and general de-cluttering of sh*t and now I've got this!

crace · 11/04/2008 19:16

In fact, I am still laughing

crace · 11/04/2008 19:15

Or put this on it?

I was browsing through Chat and saw this - pmsl

shoshe · 11/04/2008 19:12

Cant you use it for a LARGE candle

MaureenMLove · 11/04/2008 19:10

Thing is, its a standing joke in my family. My mum bought one at a bootfair and it was wonky. I hated it all those years ago, but she, (being a tad older than me!) loved it! Everytime you put little cakes on it, like older people do, they slid to one side! I feel dreadful, it clearly cost a lot of money. (I know this, because I've done what any normal person would do - I've checked out the website!)

nannynick · 11/04/2008 19:04

Do people still use cake stands? Cakes don't last that long around here

nannynick · 11/04/2008 19:02

Same area, so no house move involved. I'm changing to a all-year-round job, instead of term-time only. Being local, I may get to see the children still, at toddler group, swimming etc. Not sure if keeping in touch is wise or not, hard to know.

crace · 11/04/2008 19:02

ACK! And CRINGE!!!

Did she perhaps think you were 80?

MaureenMLove · 11/04/2008 19:01

cut glass cakestand!

crace · 11/04/2008 19:00

Oh, and Dh is in negotiations for a house in the States to rent out and give us a footprint back home just in case we might ever go back. Keep your fingers crossed - it needs work and would need an extension if we were to ever move in ourselves but it's a great price at a great time in the US housing market.

crace · 11/04/2008 18:57

It is very hard to leave a job when it's child related. I think to do this job you need to have a certain amount of attachment - it's what the parents are looking for, someone to care for and about their child while they are working. Not in a psycho way but in a caring and loving way. Hang in there Nick, they are lucky to have you.

Mo - am curious now, which expensive tat did you get? sorry

I will read through but just popped on to say am alive, and hanging in there. 3 more weeks today til I give up too, so you won't be the only lurker Mo!

MaureenMLove · 11/04/2008 18:54

Ooops! X-posts and lengthy conversation with DH on the phone! Is it still in the same area or will you be moving home too?

MaureenMLove · 11/04/2008 18:53

Good for you. Can you share you plans or not?

nannynick · 11/04/2008 18:50

Maureen, it must have been very hard for you to give notice to the families. You are changing things completely by doing a different job. I'm at least staying in the job role, just with a different family. It is just a job at the end of the day, but as it is with children, it is hard to let go.

nannynick · 11/04/2008 18:46

Yes, it's hard when you are the one who is rocking the boat... far easier when you get told you are no longer needed - then you just get on with it.
End of the day, I need to look after No.1 and that's me. I don't like change, I don't deal with change well... but I know that sometimes change has to happen, that a change is better than sticking with the same routine all the time.
Timing is nearly ideal, as I can finish the school year. When working term-time only, I think leaving at the end of the school year makes the most sense. It's a natural time for there to be change, and gives my employer over 4 months to find replacement childcare (be it another nanny, childminder or nursery).
