Right, as mentioned in the staffroom, there is definitely something in the water!! Due to there being a few of us now, I thought we should have a thread to keep tabs on when everyone is due etc.

I'll put the info I know so far, come and add yourself/your details or even better, copy and paste this list and update accordingly

Crace - C-section booked for ??? May
Looneytune - EDD 23rd June (BOY)
eleanorsmum - EDD ????
MamaG - EDD ???

I know there are others but I just can't remember now (don't you just love the pregnancy brain!). Tori has her baby last night and I think another had theirs recently too but still thought there were more pregnant C/Ms????

Ellie this thread

ellideb · 25/04/2008 08:49

Anyone here know anything about maternity allowance? I'm thinking about taking the whole time off (is it 6 or 9 mths?) starting 6 weeks before my EDD. Finding the forms a tad confusing though.

crace · 25/04/2008 08:40

And yes, I agree don't read any more on it. No point in scaring yourself. You've got to, really, take care of yourself this time. Sounds like you are dealing with something quite nasty and you will be no good to baby if you give yourself long term damage.

Bless you, it's so shit that you are dealing with this.

crace · 25/04/2008 08:38

Oh good lord, LT more than I want to write down. First things first I need to clean and organise my bedroom so the baby has somewhere to sleep! I have the babys bag packed for hospital and mine is 50% down as I am using some of it still!

Once I get that done I will feel better. I also need to clear out the c/m stuff into storage as it takes up so much blinking room!

And so so so much more. Cleaning and organising. I have three weeks to do it in so hopefully a little each day we will get there.

looneytune · 24/04/2008 19:50

So crace, what you got left to do? Maybe we should have a To Do list on here so we can all make sure we remember everything

looneytune · 24/04/2008 19:49

Cheers for the hugs crace, I've been very up and down today but there's no point in worrying about the what ifs at this stage. I really shouldn't have read things online as I saw case studies with things like 3 out of 5 women on this had stillbirths etc.....I closed it all down when I saw that and decided to look no more as too upsetting. As the dr said, if I end up with renal failure as a result then baby is at risk anyway!! Dr deffo wanted me taking these, methinks he's a tad worried that some damage has been caused as a result of their f* up and me not getting treated over a month ago!! He just wants a clear urine result after I finished the course to put HIS mind at rest too, pretty obvious.

My tablets are for 5 days (today day 1) and then I need to wait 2 days after then do a urine sample and drop it off. I then need to wait for those results. I will be providing my urine sample on Thursday morning so I imagine I won't know anything about ME til the following week. As for baby, think it's a case of I'll know once he's born unless anything bad comes up beforehand (sure it won't but it's natural to worry under the circumstances isn't it).

crace · 24/04/2008 19:39

((HUGS)) LT, yes, unfortunately it sounds like YOUR health needs to come first in this instance. I am so sorry, it has really put you in a shit position to be in, how unfair.

When will you know if you and baby are safe?

SB - Great news! Glad things are on the up.

As for me, still in the "don't ask" category - 4 weeks tomorrow is all I will say. I have a million things to do and no energy to do it. I am hoping when I stop those 2+ weeks I will have I can get things done. Here is hoping anyway!

looneytune · 24/04/2008 19:32

Hi SBelle, pleased the appointment went well and hope you manage to sort your skin out

Yes, spoke to the Dr. Here is the update I put on my other threads:

Dr given go ahead to take these tablets. Basically, he's more worried about my health as this bug I have is particularly nasty and this concerns him. Unfortunately, as it's built up a resistance to pretty much all the other usual drugs, he said this drug is my only choice really.

I asked if there were risks if I didn't treat this infection and he said yes, it could cause renal failure and he went on to explain what that means. He's concerned that it's likely I've already had this nasty infection for at least 5/6 weeks so he wants it treated asap.

So, I've now taken my first tablet as I don't feel I have much choice. I just hope they work.

He did confirm that there are risks in pregnancy and yes, they don't usually give to pregnant women HOWEVER, the risks of me not being treated outweigh the risks to baby so I have no choice really but to go with it

OP posts:
southernbelle77 · 24/04/2008 19:27

Hope you are ok LT. Have you had any more clarification about it?

Saw dr today, who actually was very nice! He said that the mc in feb should have no impact on this pregnancy. He thinks the bad skin is ezcema and has given me some baby friendly cream but said if it gets worse then to go back. He also recalculated my edd to the 24th December (like that really matters tbh!). Have my first midwife appt on the 6th May which is good.

looneytune · 24/04/2008 14:19

here's the thread from health - a post near the top may help you understand why I've been worried sick about it

OP posts:
looneytune · 24/04/2008 14:18

crace - update on both threads, been in tears most of the day on/off worrying about what to do for the best but sounds like I have no choice but to take the risk and hope bubba will be ok (sure he will be, hormones just make me worse!). I've felt so rubbish with the pregnancy and now I know why I found it really really hard to cope in the last month, a lot of little symptoms are making sense now.

Problem I now have on top is that I'm so extremely thirsty, I just have to drink, drink, drink which is very unlike me. I thought this would be related but Dr doesn't seem to think so. Oh well, off for GP check tomorrow so can talk more then.

Must say I'm not liking the way I feel right now since taking my first tablet. Need to snap out of it as off on school runs in 15 mins.

Liking your countdown

SBelle - sounds good to me, hold on to that feeling of reassurance x

OP posts:
southernbelle77 · 24/04/2008 13:45

Oh dear LT and Crace. Sorry you are both having a hard time of it right now.

I'm glad I'm finished for the day now as my nausea has decided to turn into proper morning sickness this afternoon and I'm feeling like poop. But, I'm also quite glad as makes me feel like it is more real so hopefully it's all a good sign!

crace · 24/04/2008 13:41

Bloody blinking hell LT. What did Dr say to do - will go and have a read, but only have a sec.

Btw you sound like me, too tired to post these days huh? I just feel so fed up with it all that I just don't have much to contribute. Late pregnancy + childmining are just not friends.

Hang in there -

looneytune · 24/04/2008 09:37

Can I just SCREAM for a sec??!!!! ARRRGHHHHHHHH. I'm so fed up with medical people, it's doing my head in.

Can't be bothered to type all out so here's one of my threads (other is in health section)

Just don't know whether or not to take these bloomin tablets now I know there could be risks for the baby. Dr never told me this!!!

Sorry, I'm very hormonal right now and it's just a bad time for them to be throwing all this at me!!

Rant over

OP posts:
looneytune · 23/04/2008 14:00

x-posts. Poor you crace, can you get dh to talk low down on your bump to see if baby tries to find the sound - recommended to me and must say it makes him move more. Good luck xx

OP posts:
looneytune · 23/04/2008 13:58

I'm even more pi*sed off with Drs/hospital now......just had the Dr who runs our local surgery on the phone. He 'wanted to discuss my urine samples'. I said that was interesting as I'd not been happy with things and it's been all over the place for over a month!!! Anyway, turns out the prescription the hospital gave in case I needed it (back in march) was no good after all as 'the germs in my particular samples are ones that are resistant to most of the drugs out there!!!'. WTF does that mean? He seemed a little concerned and has done me more AB's to collect this afternoon and HOPES they will be the ones to fight it however he won't be happy til I've had that lot and done a clear sample after as 'it's even more tricky in pregnancy' . I just hope they work and I don't get more and more of this agonising back pain! I would have questioned him more but battery getting low on phone and mindee crying in highchair in the background so felt I had to rush it. Will deffo quiz my GP on friday!!

OP posts:
crace · 23/04/2008 13:57

No, a HB was not on the cards this time, it was with dd I meant. Straight to elective, it's my third joy of joys

Ok, when I said I wanted a medically necessary section I didn't mean that I wanted to sacrifice sleep to get it! Because of the baby being side to side whatever side I want to lay on the head or the other side the feet. The baby thrashes around in protest as a result. I tried my back but I can't because of heartburn and sitting on my bladder. I can't fricking win! As a result.. no sleep. These 4 weeks will be the longest ever.

looneytune · 23/04/2008 10:43

LM - Good news But at what your dh said! Men eh!!

crace - sorry you were disappointed in not getting a homebirth but if they recommend c/s if already had more than 1 then I can see why you'd go for that.

I've got GP check on Friday and keeping everything crossed that bubba has turned. Ds is obsessed with talking to the bottom of my bump hoping that bubba will turn to try and hear him better

OP posts:
crace · 22/04/2008 13:41

Good for you, I longed for a homebirth too (vbac no less) and sadly didn't work out but I am ok with it. I have a friend in the local M&T group who just had a hbac 4 weeks ago. Am mucho jealous, but thrilled for her!

Hi LM! Glad you are "GO" for a vbac, but pmsl at your dh. Men, they do say some silly things. My dh is the opposite actually - he wanted me to attempt a vba2c. It's not recommended (at all!) and I just think he's on another planet. Men, I swear all they have to do is turn up on the day!

libbysmummy · 22/04/2008 13:30

Hi all

Well I had my last consultant appointment today. They are happy that I have no repeat of the placenta praevia this time around and so I am on for my VBAC - should be thrilled but now I'm bricking it!

It doesn't help that DH wants me to have another c-sec because he doesn't want to have the stress of going through labour - yes he REALLY said that - and he thought the c-sec with DD was easy!!!!

Anyway, enough of mad husbands with a death wish, we also had a listen to the heartbeat and I was measured (monster is measuring 31cms - I am 28+3 today!)

looneytune · 22/04/2008 12:04

Back from drop in.

I'd much prefer bum under rib but they said it was head on last visit and the movements I've felt have suggested to me it's still head HOWEVER I'll be very happy on Friday if I'm told he's turns round! Desperate for my home birth.....as if I haven't made that clear a million times before

I know, it IS appauling care isn't it!! I'm not happy to be in so much pain but also not happy to know that they could have damaged my kidneys and even possibly caused prem labour if was left much longer (from what I've read). There really was no need for it and I mainly blame stupid GP who I had instead of my norm a month ago!

OP posts:
crace · 22/04/2008 11:08

Yes, plenty of time to move. Mine is quite under my rib too, it's transverse with either bum in ribs (could be what you are feeling) or flips over and I get pummeled by hands and feet.

I think I just have a roomy uterus! har

Shame on them, LT that is APPALLING care.

looneytune · 22/04/2008 11:02

crace - hope yours clears up soon too then. I was furious because I was in hospital being checked on 15th March and was told I had + protein so were sending off to lab. Results came back 'inconclusive, retest if symptomatic' so every sample has gone off again yet in all this time, I still wasn't told I had a UTI, just Drs looking blank and saying 'oh, we'll retest then'. I told a crappy Dr on 18th March that I had pain in my left side and thought I had a UTI and she said no, clear sample this time. Well, turns out something was definitely brewing and she was just lucky to have a clear sample. So it wasn't until I went in on Friday for monitoring (after having heavy period type pains and awful lower backache) that I did another sample which definitely showed a UTI (although I didn't get this confirmed until I rang Drs on Monday almost in tears!!). I spent Sunday night going to the toilet every hour and half on the dot, sometimes bursting yet nothing really coming out! GRRRRR Sorry, I'm just so pi*sed off with them!

Hope everything stays ok with the bp etc.

As for transverse, pleased you're pleased But it does make me wonder what that means as surely they are still moving around at this stage? I'm 31+1 and baby is quite often transverse at night (you can tell can't you ) but then changes other times, presuming still breach as still feels like head under my right rib. I keep hoping he'll flip by the time I'm due and have his head down like I want him to but should I be worried this won't happen?

Right, must go as baby up now so need to make a dash for the end of drop in.

LT x

crace · 22/04/2008 10:41

I am on anti-b's for UTI myself. BP is ok, heartrate is high - 100-120 (ME that is) while I was in hospital on Sunday and had protein from UTI in urine. Joys joys. I don't see my m/w until next week but will have her check it for me. But by then I will only have one more day of work!

Hey - "good" news though, baby has gone all wonky and is transverse! Necessary c-section! Everyone keeps looking at me weird when I mention it, was going to have one anyway but no one understands.. I DON'T WANT A C/S!! I feel better that I HAVE to. IYSWIM..?

looneytune · 22/04/2008 10:36

crace - yes it is shite and I'm saying that after 2 weeks of not so much rushing around. Ds and mindee went back to school today so I'm back to the mad rushing around and I'm not happy about it I'm also furious with Drs/hospital for messing up and causing my infection to get this bad before I got anti-biotics. Turns out this all started over a month ago, no wonder I could hardly move in the end!!! They honestly make me wonder why the hell we bother with them!!

Yes, watch the swelling. I've had it in my ankles and a little up to my knees for about a month or so with it starting to get to my fingers and face now. Protein in urine will have been from UTI and BP is still fine so I'm ok but you do need to keep an eye out for these things.

Is next week your last week? If not been paid for next week, could you tell parents you need to finish a week early?
