Sliding down the other side, and heading for a girly weekend

I have DGD here Friday night to go shopping on Saturday morning (she still has some Clarie's vouchers burning a hole in her pocket from Christmas, and I need to get her some clothes that actually fit her, will somebody tell me when she will stop growing!!!!

Then best Friend is coming for the night on Saturday night, I might even finish the baileys

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

PS - what is a "PFB" thought I had heard them all!

crace · 24/01/2008 09:57

Kay, sorry it's a bad day - I had a baby start with me 5 months ago and when he first started I had to jiggle him to sleep. I was in tears over the seemingly constant crying. What I had to do was just put him in the cot and let him get on with it (safely of course) and I would check on him and he had the monitor as well. With 2 others I just couldn't do it every 2 hours - even now he cries himself to sleep. Some children do that, my own son for example. Hang in there - it does get better and so worth it.

Mo, you glamour queen lol

My daughter does the poo holding too, its a nightmare. If she isn't wearing a nappy she will hold it until it's a major issue and then we have a day of screaming until she can no longer hold it. Not sure how we are going to get on with potty training. I usually make a huge fuss of whenever she does a poo, even in her nappy. I may have to bribe!

We are ok here, I am getting mildly stressed as I have an assignment do for the DHC course unit I just finished. Ugh -due on the 1st but I need to do it this weekend when DH is around for the kids. Too tired in the evenings.

But I am thrilled that I can see again.

Oh, and not so thrilled that I have put on 10kgs in 22 weeks - not sure exactly how but I look massive. Sigh - the beauty of pregnancy

dmo · 24/01/2008 09:37

must be going round this pooh trouble as my mindee has it too
do you think diet has anything to do with it?
wish i was gearing up for a party mo i'm on a course tonight and tomorrow night never mind my cert file will be bulging

KaySamuels · 24/01/2008 09:20

I am a Katie MML so I will let you off!

No the baby is screaming in horror at ds's face! DS is too busy tripping over stuff as he can't see properly and thinking up stuff he can do instead of nursery.

Got baby mindee to sleep in his buggy - he must have been tired. I hope he settles in, have had a pfb before and it ended with me giving notice.

LMG - sorry your dd is giving you a tough time. (hugs) Girls can be such meanies! I agree about picking your battles, she is probably enjoying getting a reaction from you. For starters I wouldn't ask her to eat her breakfast, if she doesn't eat t in time she will defo eat all her lunch won't she! I do think it's an age thing unfortunately, you will have to comeon here and get it out of your system until she grows out of it!

eleanorsmum · 24/01/2008 09:17

morning all, thanks for the hugs last night really needed them! i'm so new to all this and feel a little out of depth. have arranegd to meet another cm this morn to get out for a while. have 10mth and dd till 10.30 then 16mth aswell both till 4.30ish. so hopefully will get a little routine going! DH was quite supportive last night amazingly! (still didn't wash up though, must work on that one! men!)

have a good day all!

MaureenMLove · 24/01/2008 09:09

Oh my, BIG apologies! Kay not Katy. Same initial letter, confuses an old lady!

MaureenMLove · 24/01/2008 09:08

Poor little lad Katy! Will you phone the nursery and have a 'chat'? Is it just because of his pain do you think or is he thinking about who/how it happened?

LMG. Its a sad fact, I'm afraid. I used to pretent to sob in a corner, when she was really rude to me! You just have to ride it out I'm afraid. I am certain there is not a child in the world, that doesn't do it, so you're not alone. It often helps to talk about it, not because you want advice particularly, but just to realise you are not the only one.

KaySamuels · 24/01/2008 08:51

aargh don't know if i can keepon doing this

KaySamuels · 24/01/2008 08:49

I am having a crappy day already. New baby is here and is not settling in well. He is crying very couple of minutes and even when okish I cannot move more than a foot away from him.

DS's eye is even worse, can hardly see out of it and says he doesn't want to go to nursery. Oh and when baby looks at him he is screming in horror.

LoveMyGirls · 24/01/2008 08:27

I'm finding it hard because it's everytime i speak to her she snaps back at me and talks to me like i'm dirt there are still times she can be loving but I have to try really hard to concentrate on those! She does keep her room tidy, always has been quite a tidy child. I took her to get her ears pierced in an effort to make her feel more special and grown up - all it did was make her think she was actually a teenager.......she's complained about them hurting im not allowed to cuddle her incase i catch her ear by mistake wish i hadn't let her have them done now but she has been nagging for years and one day she asked and i thought maybe it would help as dd2 has been having a lot of attention over the potty training/ constipation thing. Dd1 is very jelous of dd2.

MaureenMLove · 24/01/2008 08:21

Really sorry to say it LMG, but there's not a lot more you can do. You just have to threaten and carry out the threats. The 8 year old tantrums so go...... they turn into 9 year old tantrums!

The trick is, to pick your arguments. If what you are asking her to do, isn't really that important, don't raise your voice about it. Bedroom for a start. Does it really matter if she lives like a pig, shut the door! The other thing you need to do is to have a chat with her, when she's in a good 'I love Mummy' mood! I know its hard, but chill out and tell her how you're feeling about the way she speaks to you. Get inside her head for a moment and remember the hormones are on their way!

I am no expert, btw, I was just where you are once and someone suggested this lot to me! Chill babe!

southernbelle77 · 24/01/2008 08:17

LMG - my dd is also on medicine as she pooh problems too. Trouble I'm currently having is trying to get her to drink the stuff as she insists she doesn't like it! Even bribery isn't working atm! It's horrible for them though isn't it. DD has such a bloated tum from here is clearly needs to go. We are getting there and she does go but if she won't drink the medicine then its a downhill slide again.

LoveMyGirls · 24/01/2008 08:16

Good luck SB!!!!!!!!!

southernbelle77 · 24/01/2008 08:15

Morning morning!
Mindee 1 here and playing nicely with dd which is nice so thought I'd quickly pop in and say hello! Mindee 2 coming in a while and then heading out to drop in before the mad rush back for lunch (and mindee 1 goes home) and then mad dash back AGAIN as have someone coming round later for an interview! Wish me luck as I really want some more work!!
at you Mo! Replied on the thread! Gave me a good old giggle this morning!
Suffering from the dreaded pmt today! Not impressed!

LoveMyGirls · 24/01/2008 08:08

Hi everyone,

Fairly quiet today only working 9 til 2, dd2 is complaining her tummy hurts (not suprised shes been holding her pooh in since she last went on monday night ) shes on medicine I keep telling her she'll feel better if she has a pooh. Dd1 is having attitude probs at the moment she back answers me everytime i speak to her or she replies with a question about why i'm asking her to do something - any tips on how to deal with this? We're taking 15 mins off her bedtime everytime she cheeks us but is there anything more effective we can use? I sent her to bed at 6pm on tue night and she was still cheeking me yesterday and today already - today was because i said she had to eat breakfast - she's 8!

MaureenMLove · 24/01/2008 07:57

Oh, sounds like fun. I'm hurtling towards a fab party! Not having a good morning though! Ooops!
