Just been booted from my live-in job... it took me a year to find this, so any advice on finding a new one most welcome, this time I'll be looking from London so a bit easier I hope to looking from Cornwall!

Reasons for end of job feel genuine, new mum with baby and two toddlers wants to be more hands on and so wants to swap me for a full-time cleaner/housekeeper who is willing to babysit. I have a month to look! Any advice useful, experience with agencies etc

I should also say employer is willing to give good ref, plus any advice in working more with new-borns would be helpful!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

192 net, is £11,900 gross per year. Sounds low to me for full-time, live out. If it were live-in then it would be OK, as accommodation is expensive.

What are the hours involved?
Did you gel with the parents? Did you gel with the children?
Can you live 80% of the pay being offered (other 20% going to your savings, so you can buy your own place in the future / pay off your mortgage, or put in your pension fund).

List (for yourself, or on here) the Pros and Cons of the job... weigh it up, jobs aren't all about money, there are other factors that can help you decide if the job is for you, or not - location for example, can you walk there?

This is weird- lost my job yesterday 6pm, spoke to someone from gumtree at 7pm, interview this morning and I was just offered the job! weird... but not sure if I should take it, as they are only offering 192 pounds a week (net). but they seem soooo much nicer than current family... should I go for hopefully happier job or keep looking for better paid position? so unsure now.

Its for my boss. She's interviewing in London but only people who have qalifications/experience, CRB first aid etc. Could be live in or live out. She needs someone who is very reliable as the job is sole charge.

Oh yogimum if you have any contact details or anything that would be good, I do prefer working with babies!

Actually I know there is a job going in wimbledon from January with twins who will be 8 months.

If she's willing to give you a reference I don't think you will have any problems getting another job. Get a written reference from her, your cv, crb etc and send off to some agencies. You could also advertise yourself on nannyjob.co.uk or search on their for jobs.
