...I'm not thrilled at the prospect, but don't want to be an old bore either.

She is very professional and works at the nursery. However don't know what he islike.

What would you do?

Phraedd - the answer is yes - you are clearly an angel, most young do not think or behave the way you once did.
I only took my bf once, in all my years of babysitting - I think she could read it all over my face anyway !!!!

Bless you, you lot are so innocent.

motherinferior · 20/06/2007 21:45

But er even if they do have a quick shag, is it really a problem? As long as they stop if the kids make a noise and go and check what's up?

I felt quite jealous of my charming young 15 year olds, I have to say. It's been a long time since a chap got out his physics book for me

I always took my bf with me when we went babysitiing we never got up to anything we shouldn't have but then again the kids I used to babysit for were little sods so was probably the best contraception we couldve had!!!

As a nanny my bosses dont mind if MY bf comes round while i BBsit!

I am 26 though... if that makes a difference!

Phraedd · 19/06/2007 18:41

When i was younger, I used to take my boyfriend with me.

We both respected that we were in someone elses house and didn't do anything at all that we wouldn't want to be seen doing. ie no further than holding hands.

I did once have a family reply to my question of "can my boyfriend come over" as "of course but no funny business". Do babysitters really need to be told to be respectfull in someone elses house?

nannynick · 19/06/2007 18:36

No... your agreement is with her, not with anyone else. You don't know him... the children haven't met him... and he may not be cleared to work with children.

Either she comes alone, or she doesn't come at all.

FairyOnTheChristmasTree · 19/06/2007 18:36

this is the link to the aupair who the mumsnetter caught shagging her boyfriend!

FairyOnTheChristmasTree · 19/06/2007 18:33

Oh yes Eleusis, on her new rug! That was very funny indeed!

Eleusis · 19/06/2007 17:19

There was once a VERY funny thread about someone who came home in the middle of the day (unexpectedly) and caught au pair and her boyfriend in the middle of it on the living room floor. It was so funny, and I wish I could find it to post a link.

fizzbuzz · 19/06/2007 17:17

I would say no.

Babysitting when we were young always meant the only place where you could have a shag when you were young desperate and horny.....

No no no

divastrop · 19/06/2007 17:01

i was asked to take over my older sister's babysitting job after the 2 boys(age 9 and 11)went downstairs to find my sister and her boyfriend's best mate shagging on the sofa

i saw the younger lad about 10 years later and he told me the whole incident had left him quite traumatised

i think he was joking.

PinkChick · 19/06/2007 16:56

you would def have to meet him first, even more so your children have to meet him!, but id still say no!

Flum · 19/06/2007 16:55

Dhs gut feel is , no so is mine but I think we might be being a bit reactive.

I think I will ask her to bring him over to meet us and the kids the day before so they won't be scared if stillup.

If he can't bwe arsed then its obviously not the right thing is it.

I think I would be totally ok, if I already knew him.

I used to babysit with my boyfriend. Used it as a shag fest too - till the time they came home early!

PinkChick · 19/06/2007 16:48

yes she may be bored watching t.v but thats what babysitting is!, i watch tv or read mag when ive put their children to bed..getting paid for sitting on my RS is fine by me!
i wouldnt dream of taking anyone along?

motherinferior · 19/06/2007 16:28

Our 15 year old brought her charming bloke 'to revise' last Saturday. We made Very Loud Noises as we came in and they were defensively clutching their textbooks...although if they could read in that level of dim light I'm very impressed

Eleusis · 19/06/2007 16:28

I'd say "no"if I didn't know the boyfriend and/or I hadn't seen his CRB check.

I had a babysitter who would bring her boyfriend. But, the boyfriend was my next door neighbor's son and I was perfectly confident that he was a nice boy. And he LOVED my 2 yr old DS. Came round and borrowed DS once to take him over to aparty at his house (next door).

Flum · 19/06/2007 16:25

You can never 'know' though can you!

If I knew him, that would be ok. but I just feel I won't relax while I'm out.

I think she is great to have asked though and not just told him to come after we had gone out (which is what I did when i used to babysit)

My babysitter brings her bloke. He is however so of v respectable village chemist called Graham and shortly to go to uni to study dentistry.

I therefore know that he is not shagging/stealing/taking drugs/trying on my underwaer.

wishingfourgotone · 19/06/2007 16:20

Her bf may be bad influence though

CuttingCod · 19/06/2007 16:19
