nally - you need to separate your meta keywords with commas not spaces (or line breaks). So at the moment you have

ofsted
childminding
chelmsford
essex
childcare
childminder

where you need
ofsted, childminding, chelmsford, essex, childcare, childminder with no space before or after the comma. That should help.

Also, becauase it's a groovy Flash site, the search spiders are only going to find one page.

Here's some hints

looneytune · 21/03/2007 16:47

Came back as just had a thought. I moved recently so also try childminder in Spencers Wood as some I haven't changed yet. Also, when you advertise, sometimes putting local area's in brackets helps you appear in those searches too. Must dash

nally · 21/03/2007 16:37

ok ta, will have a gander xxx

looneytune · 21/03/2007 16:34

Ok, type in Childminder in Shinfield. You will see me listed loads. Is this what you mean? If so, it takes time. Advertise at every online place possible - don't bother paying though! I have a list I use for when I advertise customers websites. It's on the office pc so after nappy changes and dinner, i'll dig it out. BUT, if you do what I said, look at what places I've advertised on and do the same for now. Some are local to me so no point but it's something to start with. It does take time to appear though so if yours is very new, just be patient

nally · 21/03/2007 16:31

haven't searched for yours, only looked at it from your link on here (very nice btw)

looneytune · 21/03/2007 16:30

I was asking if it's mine you'd seen listed lots of times? If so, I'll come back and give you some tips. How long you had your site up and running?

nally · 21/03/2007 16:28

how do i make mine searchable? like if someone typed into google 'childminder chelmsford' why does mine not show up???

looneytune · 21/03/2007 16:27

who's listed on google? mine?

nally · 21/03/2007 16:26

(sorry am confused) whose what did it see???

looneytune · 21/03/2007 16:25

who's did you see?

nally · 21/03/2007 16:23

can anyone answer my question, as I am not sure how to make it searchable. I tried the add url thing to google last week and still cannot find it...

nally · 21/03/2007 16:10

Can I just ask how your website was googleable??? I searched for mine even by name and it wasn't recognised!!!!

SHOSHAlee · 21/03/2007 15:05

Just had a call from somebody who has seen website (a old client I sent it to last night showed it to her) she really really wanted to place her 7 month old with me from July, and I don't have a space!!!!!!!!aaaggggggg , I wont have a space till January a somebody came about my April space last week, although they haven't signed the contracts yet, suppose to be coming om Monday to do it. Promised lady today if it doesnt pan out I will let her know. She even offered over the odds!

It was lovely that I got a recommendation from a old client and that she loved the website.

littlelapin - I actually did it all myself, but nice of you to think so .

looneytune - i was going to put pics of me on there too, but in fact there aren't any, as I am the one always taking the pics! Will have to get my assistant to have an afternoon off to snap me in action - lol.

As for permission forms, I have signatures for all of them, so although the parents haven't seen the website yet (only finished it a couple of days ago and, in fact, I am sure I will be tweaking it constantly, as I am mad about accuracy!) hopefully they will all be ok with it.

looneytune · 21/03/2007 14:54

Tbh, wouldn't make them not want to see you, just thought I'd pass on as had nice comments from parents about that bit

Here's mine in case it helps you know what I mean (pic out of date though)

SHOSHAlee · 21/03/2007 14:50

looneytunes will pass on your recommendations. designer does alot of the Army websites, a bit different than a childcare one.

IMO, a photo is a photo. I have picks of my mindees in sun suits and never thought of it being a problem. Would be interested in other people views on this though but my parents have always been fine.

looneytune · 21/03/2007 13:28

It's lovely, love the pics! :-)
Just a thought but how about a nice pic of you, maybe with mindees? Only thought I'd mention as lots of parents have commented on how nice it was to read & see something about me before meeting me. 2 decided they were definitely going to use me just from my website and that the meeting was more a formality. One of them is someone who's coming on Friday

Anyway, it's lovely

SHOSHAlee · 21/03/2007 12:44

I just showed DB website, he asked if it was ok to have children in swimsuits on photos, have permission for photo what does everyone think please should I chage the photos.

smeeinit · 21/03/2007 12:10

both sites are great! well done peeps!

SHOSHAlee · 21/03/2007 08:52

Most of the photos on my website are the child of the dad that built my website, so that got ne out of that ome, but yes got a permission form for website use.

OP posts:
KaySamuels · 21/03/2007 08:48

They are both great I am building mine at the moment!

Did you have to get permission for using the mindees pictures or did you already have it? I use the ncma photo permission forms but had put a line through internet use so will have to request it again.

What are the reactions from current mindees parents about your websites? The kids look they are having a great time by the way!
