Drop of alcohol to help him sleep? What do you use?

I have a 1 year-old who (like many I'm sure) is an absolute nightmare with sleeping. Not often but occasionally I've popped a few small drops of brandy (he seems to quite like the taste(!)) to help him off. It was something my nan used to do to me.

I wondered if this was something others did and which alcohol they tended to use?

Thanks in advance!

Crème de Menthe. That way they've got fresh breath too!

I presume you are trying to be funny. However, you do know it's illegal to give a child under five alcohol?

GobblersKnob · 01/09/2016 16:20

The deleted message suggested the op could possibly dwell under a bridge.

I'm a bit retro and use laudanum.

Hawkmoth · 01/09/2016 16:18

Babycham. The clue is in the name?!?

Lenska999 · 01/09/2016 16:18
Hmm
Soubriquet · 01/09/2016 16:17

If you have to use alcohol use Pernod.

Then the effects last the next day too

imwithspud · 01/09/2016 16:17

Just give him a space cake, he'll sleep for a week.

LivinOnAChair · 01/09/2016 16:17

God I hope this is a fucking troll...

MakeItStopNeville · 01/09/2016 16:17

I'm dying to know what the deleted message said. Especially because giving your baby brandy to help them sleep is so totally normal. Confused

Fitzsimmons · 01/09/2016 16:16

You're all amateurs. Phenergan is what's needed.

bunnysmummy · 01/09/2016 16:16

chloroform works a treat, sometimes i use too much and i get a couple of days peace and quiet, I'm surprised more don't.
I've tried to buy big game animal tranquilizer darts, but to no avail.

I have some hazelnut polish vodka that tastes just like Nutella which would be ideal for slightly older toddlers

Bumpmadethemjump · 01/09/2016 16:14

I find koppenburg works wonders however, make sure you brush lo's teeth after the bottle as it's quite fizzy, can't have them damaging their teeth now can we?!

Bagina · 01/09/2016 16:14

I do the drinking, then I can't hear them crying Hmm

newdocket · 01/09/2016 16:14

I find a massive spliff works wonders

morningpaper · 01/09/2016 16:13

Personally I give MYSELF half a bottle of brandy: it helps me sleep through the children whining about nonsense all night.

bloodyteenagers · 01/09/2016 16:13

I find Jäger better. Has that medicine smell and taste.

Me and the toddler do tequila shots.

He likes lemon with his, I prefer lime.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 01/09/2016 16:12

I like to hand my kids a bong before bed, I don't see them until morning that way

LumpyMcBentface · 01/09/2016 16:10

I crush up a couple of sleeping tablets and add those to the bottle. Never fails.

ImYourMama · 01/09/2016 16:10

God the pearl clutchers are out!

Have you tried a more traditional method like baby massage or a touch of calpol?

Soubriquet · 01/09/2016 16:10

You can't be serious?

You are joking right?
