ive got mindee one a jacket(velour with hood pink thing) not expensive and a bag which fantastically has her name on, she has a most unusual name and this name on the bag is meaning something else, but it says xxxx girl(her name first), so think its fab!..does this sound enough?

got mindee 2 a board game, santa biscuit, large christmas jelly sweet?

am hoping this is 'enough'????

StrawberrySnowflakes · 22/12/2006 11:37

santasaltire, i did wonder the interpreted it myself

shosha, well if it is, shes been very quiet since last night..funny giggly noise coming from parcel tho??

santasaltire · 22/12/2006 09:57

Have just read what i wrote in an earlier post. It should read "they pay me enough" not pay men. I didn't want you thinking they were weird

crace · 22/12/2006 09:40

I didn't get anything either - though I bought my two p/t mindees something small.

I did get a lovely card from her saying thanks for making work bearable and they were happy here. Much rather have that then a present!

I think it's right that it's not about the presents (or lack of) it's the respect and appreciation. I think it's shocking that Santasaltires mindees parents are so appallingly unappreciative. Some people just don't get it.. we are only looking after their children! When I was working and had childminders I used to always go on about saying thank you and what great jobs they were doing.

I posted another thread about one parent who said that she had wanted to get me chocolates or wine, but her DH had said no, they pay men enough, and he wasn't going to spend more money one me!
As someone said on another post, it's not aboput receiving gifts, but about being appreciated. The mindee i am referring to, is a gorgeous little boy. I have been very flexible with his parents, i've had the boy for extra hours, to fit around his dad's courses, his dad is away for the whole of january, so will have him extra again, and not even a card saying "thanks".

i got an xmas card and the kids got selection boxes each (so thats something)

i got him a selection box a colouring book and a scrapbook with all the photos id ever taken of him.

im not saying give to recieve but appreciation is nice. a thank you card would have done then i could have put it on my notice board and other parents wud have thought aww she must have been really nice to him etc (which obv i am and i hope they know that) but would have been something for my prospective parents to see.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 20/12/2006 19:47

well ive bought lots of presents for each mindee not mega expansive, but things i think theyd like/need...dd has had a card off mindee 1 but i havent?..not really botherd about cards, but sad to think i didnt even spring to mind when she was writing them!

Isyhan · 20/12/2006 19:32

LoveMyGirls · 20/12/2006 14:28

This is how appreciated and respected i am.......i looked after a boy for 8 mths for 10hrs a day 5 days a week, he left last week and what did i get?

nothing at all.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 20/12/2006 14:16

..tends to be just after theyve poured paint on the carpet!, but never the less

3frenchHenniePennies · 20/12/2006 14:12

Don't you just love it when a mindee says "love you"? makes me go all gooey inside!

StrawberrySnowflakes · 20/12/2006 14:10

all you mums on here are fab, i wish there were more like you

StrawberrySnowflakes · 20/12/2006 14:08

Merry Christmas to you too
we've been making loads of craft things, but have been giving them to take each day as i am quickly running out of storage!

my dp commented last weekend when i had mindee how polite she now is as opposed to when she first came to me and she actually tells me 5,6,7 times a day now.."i love you xxx"
seems like you think your getting no where and then theirs a little breakthru!

Earthymama · 19/12/2006 09:02

Why don't we start saying we are Early Years Educators? That might work, even if, like me, the only educating you seem to do sometimes is 'please' and 'thank you' and 'Get down from standing on the table'!!

Actually feeling more positive this week and looking forward to sending home the craft stuff we're making for Christmas.

Can I say have a great holiday to you all, you deserve it. I hope you all get to do whatever makes you relax and enjoy yourselves,

Merry Christmas!!

Caroligula · 17/12/2006 23:08

God, I wouldn't leave my children with someone I didn't respect tbh. I totally respect my children's childminder.

mogs0 · 17/12/2006 22:51

I have one mindee who's parents are great and often say how they appreciate me but I think that's more about me being flexible with swapping days than the actual job I do!

I have recently had a temporary baby mindee just for 2 months and have never been praised so much in my life! Her Mum is so lovely and was really upset when the 2 months were up.

In the area I'm in there are lots of nannies so the "childcare profesionals" aren't really seen as "babysitters". Hmmm, that could be our new name franyfroo - "childcare professionals"!!!!

I totally agree that we need some more positive recognition. Before registering I was a nanny and only registered as a childminder because I couldn't find a nanny job where I could take my ds. It was only when I went through the registration that I realised just how much is involved (paperwork, birth-three etc).

I have massive respect for fellow cms!!!!!

BuffysMum · 15/12/2006 22:30

To all the fantastic & professional CM's - I respect you!
