My CM has found a lump in her breast which obviously she's worried sick about and has booked herself an appointment at a private hospital for Tuesday, she's told me this, not asked if it's ok iyswim. Now I know i'd be worried to death about finding a lump but I really cannot take this time off and DH would be unpaid which we can't afford. I don't want to sound like a heartless cow but she had Friday off at short notice for an uncles funeral and now this, would it be completely awful to ask her to rebook for Wednesday ?

You didn't need to apologise LT - I wasn't upset by it - just didn't like it to look like it was the case IYSWIM. Last post on here!

looneytune · 08/09/2006 08:20

Flossam - so, so sorry - there were so many posts that I obviously was rushing to catch up so mis-read that. I'm very pleased that I mis-read that BUT my point still stands. It must have been such a stressful and upsetting/worrying time for you all!

I'm now stepping away from this thread as I've made my point, just wanted to apologise for getting that wrong.

Flossam · 07/09/2006 22:52

Glad the CM is ok. I think a tumour can be ruled out on a same day appointment. One thing I feel I have to point out though mainly to LT - my Mum is still very much alive and although still not (quite) kicking following her op she is still with us. I probably did over react but this thread genuinely did upset me, probably because it all happened so recently. I don't really have any comment on AC attitude - I don't think I need to. Apologise for bumping this but couldn't bear that it appeared I had implied my lovely mum was dead.

dmo · 06/09/2006 22:20

wwjd

WideWebWitch · 06/09/2006 21:27

I tell you what I have got from this thread, the acronym wwyd, I like it.

looneytune · 06/09/2006 21:20

Sorry, MAJOR correction - INsensitive!!

looneytune · 06/09/2006 21:20

Melrose - well put! I don't care about her personal circumstances financially and carer/jobwise, I'm just appauled that someone could be so sensitive about such a serious topic!

melrose · 06/09/2006 21:17

As someone who spends a lot of time working with people with breast cancer I am gob smacked by this thread.

To correct AC's comment, whilst breast cancer is far more common in older (post meno pausal women) it is by no means restricted to that group. Lumps should be taken seriously regardless of age - just ask Kylie, or jayne Tomlinson, or the 24 year old I recently met.

Thank God the majority of people going through this trauma have more sensitive and caring employers, and I hope AC is never put in the position of requiring an employer to be sympathetic to a crisis in her life

looneytune · 06/09/2006 21:15

A troll is someone who comes on and posts something to get shocked responses and/or makes up stories adding info that makes no sense (is untrue) and just after attention! HTH

WideWebWitch · 06/09/2006 21:08

smeeinit · 06/09/2006 20:40

MrsFio · 06/09/2006 20:34

can someone tell me who C is? (batters?)

angela, i am pleased it was only cyst btw

AngelaChill · 06/09/2006 20:15

Kazz33 - when I was in that position I did not want somebody who (you think) has no idea what is like living hand to mouth gushing with sympathetic noises, they could write me a cheque if they liked but lip service really isn't want people on a pitance want or need is it.
I have lived on income support with my DD1 and made £40 last longer than you ever think possible which is why when faced in a situation where we still don't have much I am fighting to save every penny and ensure that the days DH is offered work I move heaven and earth to make sure he can take them.

I know Angelachill what it is like to be earning lots of money and still not exactly be rolling in money once you paid the nanny, mortgage on your over priced london flat, service charge etc... You don't know what it is like to actually have no money to get through the week (luckily neither do I) and no way of getting some.

Your total lack of compassion and understanding for people who survive on a pittance compared to you is gobsmacking. Sadly when I lived in west london I met loads like you.

looneytune · 06/09/2006 19:18

Being serious now, I'm not the sort of person to be nasty in RL or online and usually ignore nasty threads but I couldn't hold back on this one. I usually worry about hurting people feelings, even if I don't know them but I don't care whatsoever if you're for real and any comments you've read upset you (although I doubt they would anyway as you said you are thick skinned). I'm just so saddenly to see that there are people out there who could be sooooo insensitive.
