Maternity nurse/doula?

Hi

Does anyone know where I can get information on a maternity nurse or possibly a doula? Not sure if there is such a thing as what I'm looking for but here goes:

Just for a wk or so I'd love someone who is experienced with newborns to come to my house and give me some pointers on looking after a newborn. My family and friends are 450 miles away and DH's family work full time and live an hour away.

I trust my motherly instinct but I would love someone to come in and show me stuff/tips etc that I dont know about.

Lucy - I train postnatal doulas all over the UK and there is one in Glasgow which might be of interest to you.

Hi Lucy,

Have you tried the nanny agencies in the yellow pages, i do this type of work but in the SW of England and get all my work thru an agency.

Lucy - good luck with the post natal doula.I dont think there are many in your area - last year there was only one woman working in Glasgow - a friend checked it out. I live near EK BTW
