(Deep breath)

OH admitted to hospital Thursday - because I made him go!!!- with pneumonia, taken a turn for worse, not sure if he will pull through.....

Can't cope......

Managed to cancel 1 mindee for Monday, can't get hold of other parents and really not able to do face-to-face at the moment without turning into a puffa fish Sad. Feel really bad about cancelling but can't possibly look after LO when cant look after myself. Would it be wrong to send a family member round to tell them? Have arranged cover with another cm child knows and has been minded by before.

Christ I feel shite!

On top of all this DS is 6 this wk and might not get to see daddy......

Sorry all, but at least you cant here me crying SadSad, phonecalls tonight to friends have ended in floods.

thank you for taking the time to update, my lovely

I am glad that DS enjoyed showing off his DS Grin

all the best for tomorrow's surgery

underpaidandoverworked · 05/11/2010 23:30

Plus side - DS had fab time charming the nurses, even if he did spend whole time with daddy playing on his new DS Toy Story 3 game Grin

Downside, DH being transferred to another hospital tomorrow as he needs surgery - condition called 'empyema'. Thankful they know what's wrong now but worried to death about the surgery. Have now got SIL passing info to MIL as have taken executive decision that dont need their distress and worry on top of my own. New hospital closer as well - can you tell am trying to look on the positive?

You lot are so, so supportive. Will make sure I do the same for you all if you need me

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/11/2010 09:17

fab news dh is in a side room, means he should be able to get some rest&peace - plus flexible visiting hours so ds should be able to see him whenever

good news about the drain :)

keep plodding on and remember we are all here for you xxxx

nannynick · 04/11/2010 22:55

My younger sister has been in hospital earlier this year with a very similar thing... pneumonia which turned into fluid on the lungs. Hospital she was at was not a specialist chest hospital, so they did consider transferring her but felt the journey wasn't that wise. In the end the drugs and nursing care they were giving her did sort out the infection and she's back in full health now.

Hope he recovers soon.

underpaidandoverworked · 04/11/2010 22:37

Plodding on - only way to describe it.....

Chest drain put in today, already collected 850mls of fluid (that was at 7.30) Have managed to get him into a side ward but he now hasnt slept for 48 hrs - not conducive to a speedy recovery. He looks no better, is in great discomfort, still isnt eating - hasnt had proper meal for 10 days - , tongue covered in ulcers.

I'm going to ring to make appt with his consultant tomorrow - after ds been in to see him - because I cant get any info out of the staff. I know I look a bit thick but am really very intelligent and know more than they think (thank heavens for Google!!!)

We dont know what his care plan is, what the next step is, what blood and other results are - crap!

Off to concentrate on making my little boys day memorable Smile

thebody · 04/11/2010 14:00

always complications with pneumnia but obviously he is getting great care and remember soon down soon up.. iv antibuiotics and good nursing care will see him through, absolutley sure of it hunny...

hugs and love to you all,

you will be a stronger family unit because of this in the end..xxxxxxxxxx

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/11/2010 13:54

:( that dh has taken a turn ((HUGS)) but good that hopefully ds is now reassured by seeing daddy

not sure if any help to you, but i had fluid and a blood clot on the lung 4yrs ago(and was told if doctors hadnt have reacted so fast that I would have died) and im 100% fine now :)

dh is in the right place and will be getting the right care/medication/treatment he needs (and probably injections in tummy)

with a clot he is likely to be on wraphin, so will be more prone to bleeding, so might want to grow a beard lol

thinking of you all xxx

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 04/11/2010 13:34

Oh no, you poor thing :( (((((hugs))))) for both you and your ds. I'm keeping everything crossed here for you and so is my dh. And your poor ds, that put tears in my eyes reading what he said :( Don't know what else to say apart from that we're all thinking of you and hoping this all turns around again and he makes a full recovery!

xxxx

KatyMac · 04/11/2010 07:48

Oh it is horrid isn't it, remember he is in the best place, the hospital (esp the nurses) will do everything they can for him.

DS will adjust - speak to your GP (& maybe PALS as well)about getting him some support - I done this for my should have DD

LesbianMummy1 · 04/11/2010 04:59

Oh upaow just seen your message sending you lot's of {{{hugs }}} I have been thinking of you all the time. As magic says let's hope things will improve again. It is amazing what they can do and he is in the best possible place and they will be doing everything they possibly can. Please try and look after yourself too I know it is hard to think of yourself but your OH will need you to be strong and it could be a long road ahead. Ds will be in such turmoil just like yourself but all you can do is try to answer his questions the best you can and to cuddle him when he is scared. The nursing staff may have some ideas of how you can explain things too. Sending lot's of positive vibes and {{{hugs}}}

magicOC · 04/11/2010 00:24

UPAOW - been quietly watching this thread and thinking of you all. Didn't want your up-date to go unanswered in case no one is around at the moment.

Sorry to hear things are bad again, it's a horrible situation to be in, must be difficult as well when you ot only have your OH sick, but, your son being worried too.

Poor thing must be so scared, children have very active imaginations and will be thinking all sorts of things. I'm pleased they are letting him in to see his dad, that should be a huge help for him.

They do say things can get worse before they get better, so lets hope that this is the worse and he will be well on the road to recovery soon.

Thinking of you all.

Went downhill overnight, now have found out he has fluid on the lungs (to be drained tomorrow) and possibly a clot, which has been scanned for this afternoon. Ever been up there one minute and come crashing down the next???

Only upside is they have agreed that DS can spend 10 mins with daddy on Friday, but have had to take him out of school for next few days as he is convinced that daddy has died and noone has told him. WHen I asked him why he thought that he said that you dont see people again when they die and I havent seen daddy for ages Sad. These are the bits they dont prepare us for as parents....

Taking deep breaths, and the occasional glass of wine, but think the autopilot is about to run out of fuel.....
