Hello. If anyone has come across this situation, I would be very pleased to read your comments.

Girl - now aged 19.

When under 16 and still at school, had sex with a boy over 18. Got pregnant very quickly, kept the baby. Still in a relationship with the boy.

Girl now employed by an established local nursery in the Greater London Area. Studying for an NVQ in childcare!

Do you think that it is absurd / odd/ normal that the nursery has chosen to employ someone with this sexual history and background? The boy (adult) has in the eyes of the law, fallen foul of the Sexual Offences Act 2003. The girl is still in a relationship with him but works with children.

Love to hear your thoughts.

What bothers you about it OP? What harm do you think children in her care could come to?

Rindercella · 28/10/2010 18:56

It definitely isn't me. So I guess it's you!

Good for the girl to get on with her life and get a job. And good for both of them to still be together. They must really love each other - it could not have been easy for them to begin with.

colditz · 28/10/2010 18:56

There is nothing morally ambiguous about someone having sex at 15, then having a job in a nursery. As she'#s already raised a baby of her own, I would expect her to be rather better than the average 19 year old nursery nurse.

What is morally reprehensible is the way you want her sacked for being a teenaged mother.

I'd be midly concerned if HE got a job at the nursery having had sex with a minor.
But if you are asking me to comment on this loose woman, i mean nursery nurse the only thing i'd care about is what is she like at her job ?

MJB66 · 28/10/2010 18:52

Its you!!

memoo · 28/10/2010 18:52

I agree with you OP

I think any girl who has sex under the age 16 should be publicly flogged and sent to live in a home for fallen women!

Schroeder · 28/10/2010 18:52

What's this 'girl' 'boy' thing? Surely they are both adults and parents?Confused

LuisB · 28/10/2010 18:52

There is something about this situation that is morally ambiguous to me. Not to any of you who have posted, it would appear. But thanks for all your opinions.

Just you. If they're still together then it was just badly timed love.
Think it's great that through her big 'mistake' she found her career.

KittyMee · 28/10/2010 18:52

If you're not the girl referred to in the OP (which would still be a weird post even if you are) then I put it to you that you are a freak or a troll or just tragically lacking in things to think about.

Longtalljosie · 28/10/2010 18:50

It is just you

colditz · 28/10/2010 18:50

His behavior bears no relevance to her job.

You need to get that idea out of your head.

If you don't like her, pull your child out, and stop gunning to have her sacked, you weirdo.

I am guessing the op is the girl in question as otherwise the post is just odd.

phipps · 28/10/2010 18:47

This is a really weird thread.

pozzled · 28/10/2010 18:46

I stand corrected colditz I thought it was anyone under 16 but don't know a lot about it.

LuisB · 28/10/2010 18:46

The girl has shown a tendency to 'cover up' for the boy - lie for him. Couldn't this extend to protecting him if he were to sleep with another under-16?

madugherowngrave · 28/10/2010 18:45

I had sex under 16, and I have worked with children, what on earth is wrong with that?

pozzled · 28/10/2010 18:45

PML at this-

"Would it bother you that the nursery is happy to employ someone who thinks that it is acceptable to enter into a sexual relationship with an adult and now sees fit to work with children?"

I would presume that this applies to most, if not all of the people who work at my DD's nursery. Possibly some are virgins, either way not my business!

colditz · 28/10/2010 18:43

It is not statutory rape if the girl is 13 or over.

HerHonesty · 28/10/2010 18:42

sorry, this is a wind up? surely?
