I'm always chuffed to bits when I see your opinion on treads.

Your advice is always borne out to be sound, you're unbelievably empathic and compassionate.

What with all your advice about maternity units, BF and looking after newborns, I've moved from resenting my pregnancy (I was determined to terminate) to feeling pretty confidant that DH and I will cope (somehow!) with a baby. grateful is an understatement........

The fact that you have a stressful career in the NHS AND you find time to come on MN and listen to all us neurotic first-timers - I think you'll find that makes you a fabby person.

Sincerely hope you're beetroot now!

Only just seen this and wanted to add my personal thanks to the one and only Mears the marvellous midwife! I have utmost respect for you and hope you will always grace our site! Good to hear you get alot out of it as you give so much!

I think Mears is fab and so reassuring. It's easy to tell she is a kind, lovely, warm person. Can they clone you, Mears? x

I am a big fan of Mears and recognise how much more dedicated she is to childbirth than a large number of midwives.... always trying to keep off the un-necessary medical management! And debunking some of these mythas and crap advice we can get!!!!

Ah yes Mears, it's not just about childbirth and bf that you post wise advice. I've said it before and I'll say it again, what you say is always heartfelt, straightforward and honest, but helpful and supportive too. And you've been doing it as long as I've been on Mumsnet!

lol sobernow! I haven't needed advice from mears as I am older and did not discover mn until after the infant stage.
However, I often read your posts mears, I'm struck by how rarely you ask for anything for yourself, but you always respond to those who are worried.
And with a family of your own and a busy job...people rely on you because you are an expert. But that doesn't mean you owe anyone anything. You just do it because you have a naturally helpful nature.

Here here. Don't know where you find the time Mears but don't think I've ever seen a thread asking for your help where you haven't responded. It's not often you come across someone who really loves their job.
Reckon you should do a Gina Ford & write a book.

mears - you are wonderful!! Your advice, and more importantly, support when I was bfing dd was honestly one of the very few things that kept me sane - thankyou. And your advice since has been reliable and its brilliant having a supportive ear on mumsnet whenever needed, especially for those of us that have useless mw's/hv's/gp's.

So a big thankyou here too

I love reading your calm advice and wish you could pop to Kingston hospital in say 16-18 weeks time....

My thanks too. I had a tiny queerie a few months ago and know my H.V is not my favourite person so i though, "oh i'll ask Mears".
