Apologies in advance for the suggestion it might me, no offence intended if you have a Casey! I love the name, it's DH who thinks it might be a bit chavvy.

I love it for a boy or girl. I also like it as it's an Irish surname, reflects my family background (not DHs).

Thanks!

How about Carey?

mamsnet · 09/07/2010 14:20

'Fraid so.

OneFishTwoFish · 09/07/2010 14:19

The only Casey I ever knew was a (male) drug dealer.

Sorry, that's not terribly helpful, is it?

NewbieT · 09/07/2010 14:18

Oh dear... I must admit I wouldn't consider Kaycee or Kaycie but Casey seems like a strong, traditional, but still cute name to me. It's to go with a one-syllable surname also beginning with C, I really like alliterative names but can't think of many 'C' names I like! suggestions welcome

I'm afraid I agree with your DH - sorry. Cassie is lovely for a girl though

shimmerysilverglitter · 09/07/2010 14:16

I agree with your dh.

stressheaderic · 09/07/2010 14:15

I know a Cayce and a Kacee.
Also know a pitbull on our estate called Casey.
Avoid.

Chasney · 09/07/2010 14:15

it's a bit chavvy yes

ReneRusso · 09/07/2010 14:13

It is chavvy I'm afraid

BridesheadRegardless · 09/07/2010 14:12

I think it might be.

Whatever chavvy means, and what an awful term etc etc.

My DS has a Kacie in his class.

I've also heard of a KC, but admit to not meeting said child myself.

Pinner35 · 09/07/2010 14:09

I know a Kaycee-Mae......lovely girl but I do cringe at the name.

ShatnersBassoon · 09/07/2010 14:09

I think it is.

sherby · 09/07/2010 14:07

yep

violetsmile · 09/07/2010 14:07

I actually love it for a girl. I think it's way too feminine for a boy imo. Darren Hayes did a song called Casey it's on youtube and it's lovely. Made me love the name even more.

bounty007 · 09/07/2010 14:06

yup, v chavvy...sorry!

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 09/07/2010 13:59

I know an Irish girl Casey and it suits her very well.

Personally I don't like it when 'twinned' with other names eg Casey-Mae, Casey-Lou etc.

susie100 · 09/07/2010 13:58

eeer I would say yes, sorry

snice · 09/07/2010 13:57

Can't stop humming 'Casey Jones' themetune so its a no from me

Jamieandhismagictorch · 09/07/2010 13:56

I don't know about chavvy, but I'm not a big fan, personally, of surnames-as-first-names.

It is much much better for a boy than a girl
