Unusual girls names, perhaps Welsh?

lowrib · 08/07/2010 00:27

Trying to help my overdue friend come up with names. They're thinking of Niamh, but not 100% sure, and I said I'd help come up with some more suggestions.

They like the more unusual names, they're keen on Celtic names, particularly - but not necessarily Welsh names.

Any help gratefully received! TIA

Rowan? Lovely for a girl

SageFemme · 26/07/2010 09:06

Nyree is a Maori name.

katechristie · 10/07/2010 22:34

If we have DC3 and it's a girl, she will possibly be Medi Fflur or Medi Elen.
I also like Peri, Cadi, Mali, Ffion.

"Dont think I have seen Lowri yet?"

Dont think I have seen Lowri yet?

BridesheadRegardless · 09/07/2010 09:55

I love Ffion.

Also love Delyth and Dilys.

mrswill · 09/07/2010 09:43

Sorry, only just realised you came from Wales, so no need of pronounciation stuff!

mrswill · 09/07/2010 09:42

How about-

Ffion, pronounced fee-on.
Mari
Eleri
Haf, pronounced harv, meaning summer in welsh. I think!

Am biased as dd name is ffion, and is very popular in Wales.

LuluF · 08/07/2010 22:22

Yseult/Iseult - though I never really know how to pronounce it (I was at school with a girl names 'Iseult' who pronounced it 'Iz-Elt', but I'm not confident that this is correct).

SiriusStar · 08/07/2010 20:38

Is Nyree welsh?
Looking at these names, there are some really pretty ones. Shame I'm not having any more.

Deemented · 08/07/2010 20:01

Mali or Eleri - if i ever had another dd, that's what she'd be.

valiumSingleton · 08/07/2010 19:58

I don't think it's unusual but I love the name Olwen.

tyler80 · 08/07/2010 19:54
