I like Talia, it was going to be the name of my second child (never happened). I know a couple of Talias but only with that spelling. I also know a lad called Tal (also that means dew).

Lionstar · 04/07/2010 22:32

Both very pretty, don't listen to MN or your kids'll be called Cassius and Romilly

hester · 04/07/2010 22:30

Josephine and Josie both very nice.

cece · 04/07/2010 21:45

Josie very nice. How about Sadie?

stressheaderic · 04/07/2010 21:41

I live on a rough council estate (upon which inhabits a young boy called Rocky).

But still, neither.

jellybeans · 04/07/2010 20:52

I like Kyla.

Tillyscoutsmum · 04/07/2010 20:46

Josie is lovely

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 04/07/2010 19:26

I like Talia, Thalia and Josephine. Not so keen on Tahlia.

coffeefestival · 04/07/2010 19:23

I like Josephine and Josie.

ilovemountains · 04/07/2010 18:56

Josephine and Josie are lovely.

foxyjbro99 · 04/07/2010 18:54

I think Tahlia is lovely, very underused, and not at all "councilly".

I'm really getting put off by all the negative comments though

What are your thoughts on Josephine (nn Josie)

OP posts:
hester · 04/07/2010 18:52

I love Talia, and I'm a bit posh these days.

Not keen on Kyla.

Imisssleeping · 04/07/2010 18:51

Tahlia is beautiful, but I would never ever ask anyone elses opinion on names as you will always get people who hate it.
Choose the name you love, it's a very personal thing.

clarabella23 · 04/07/2010 18:49

I like Tahlia and Tahleia, and I would pronounce them as you would.
My little girl is Tyla, so similar, and if I had heard the name Tahlia I would have been tempted! I also liked Tai, but let everyone put me off.
And yes, I'm from a council estate.

sweetkitty · 04/07/2010 18:45

I have a Talia so a bit biased and no I do not live on a rough council estate and chose the name as it is beautiful and from the Old Testament and means Dew from Heaven.

We chose Talia over Tahlia or Thalia as we felt Thalia would get TH-lee-ah and an H would confuse people so went for the simpler Talia pn Tah-LEE-ah.

alexisfaith · 04/07/2010 18:41

Neither

cece · 04/07/2010 18:41

I know a Tahlia but to me it sounds like you've left the front bit off and it should be Natalia. I would also spell it Thalia.

mathanxiety · 04/07/2010 18:41

Thalia or Leah, but not Kyla ever.

HerHonesty · 04/07/2010 18:39

sorry i think they are both awful.

Takver · 04/07/2010 18:36

My only thought would be that cf Dahlia gives you Tail - ee - a

foxyjbro99 · 04/07/2010 18:30

I'm swaying more towards Tahlia, I'm not keen on the spelling Thalia, because I think it will create pronounciation problems.
DH likes Tahleia so nn can be leia (as in princess leia .
I just don't want it to be pronounced
Ta-lee-ah
want it to be pronounced
Tar-lee-ah

DYSWIM??

I think Tahlia is pretty but I am somewhat biased as it is my niece's name and she's completely gorgeous.

Thelongroadhome · 04/07/2010 17:56

I'm with valiumSingleton

mrswill · 04/07/2010 17:53

Thalia is a lovely name, and nn lia is pretty too.

Kyla - sounds low end and cheap - sorry.
