I quite like Caspar (spelt with an A)

But DD chose it for our cat, and it suits him too well now for me to imagine it also suiting a human being

ReasonableDoubt · 04/07/2010 15:34

I like the spelling Caspar, better. No idea why. Caspian is nice, if a bit posh.

audley · 04/07/2010 15:31

I have a Caspar, I also love Jasper. Have had mixed reactions and a huge proportion of people spell it Casper in cards etc. One wonderful person did their research and realised that Caspar was one of the three wise men - made me very happy! My DH chose Caspar over Jasper for the Cas nickname.

coffeefestival · 04/07/2010 13:13

I like it

I expect the ghost connection will become less as time goes by.

toccatanfudge · 04/07/2010 13:11

don't like Casper - makes me think of friendly ghost

but Caspian is lovely

emmyloo2 · 04/07/2010 12:56

I don't mind it but much prefer Jasper which I love.

RetroMum1 · 04/07/2010 12:54

My DH loved Casper but I couldn't get over the friendly ghost thing so we went with Jasper (they're known as wasps here to in Gloucestershire but not that many people know that any more. Jasper is 3 months old know and I have heard of someone else using it. I think it will become more to the Twilight saga unfortunately but it is a lovely name and everybody compliments us on it.

LetThereBeRock · 04/07/2010 12:15

I love it.

seenyertoeslately · 04/07/2010 11:51

Down in Devon us used to refer to wasps as 'jaspers'. Dunno why.

PlasticCenturion · 04/07/2010 11:40

thumbwitch is right, Caspar is the more usual spelling. And Twilight is a load of dreary dross and reallly if anybody associates Jasper with such a pile of fetid nonsense then they aren't worth mixing with anyway.

thumbwitch · 04/07/2010 10:53

Caspar is a more usual spelling - I do like the name though (and Jasper too). I know nothing of Twilight however.

ToManyKids · 04/07/2010 10:51

I dont mean he shouldnt worry about mickey taking, i mean over a name. We have a daughter called cordelia and thats very unusual and he let that name go ahead!! I think the jasper name may be coming from the twilight sage i love jasper but all my children have C names

I dont know what to do, decisions decisons.....

caspar might be a better way to spell and say it, i never thought of that

My husbands nephew is called Casper so I think it is a lovely name.

When I first met him of course I made the connection to the ghost for about the first minute. Now I make the connection to a gorgeous little boy.

I would go for it

5DollarShake · 04/07/2010 10:03

Why should people taking the mickey out of his son, not concern his Dad? [hmm}

PlasticCenturion · 04/07/2010 09:49

Caspar.

Honestly, that little vowel makes all the difference.

I like it.

Well, it reminds me of Knights and the sea and stuff. Which is better than plump rather dappy American ghosts.

ToManyKids · 04/07/2010 09:45
