"Flowery" girls names

I'm very newly pregnant so am bound to change my mind 1000 times but at the moment I am set on having a flower name if my baby's a girl.
My favourite was Ivy but my partner said it sounds like 'an old lady name' so that's out - I don't want to argue with him!
I feel ridiculously picky but I know I don't like Lily or any of its derivatives as I have a cousin Lily and the same with Rose.
Partner has also said no to Violet.
Currently thinking about Daisy but I don't love it the way I love Ivy!

Any suggestions would be fantastic
MN is undecided also - but definitely will not be Grace or Mae or any of those, no offence to you guys with Graces and Maes xx

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

kingbeat23 I'd like the middle name to be Else/Elsa I think but not sure how that will go down!

Also Rowan if trees are acceptable

stdomingo · 03/07/2010 21:40

mathanxiety Great idea! Definitely going to consider some of them

I have an Iris Maria, thought I was having a boy (unconfirmed, but my DP and 3 midwives whilst pushing were taking bets that it was a boy!!)

Helps if you have a middle name to "complete" the whole thing!

Aw I've just read a novel about a Jessamy and would love to be able to call my baby that!
I've wracked my brains through all my favourite novels/novelists/songs/films - nothing!

Pansy. Posy.

I know it's not a flower but am currently reading a novel about an Ivory... Love it!

stdomingo · 03/07/2010 21:31

Thanks
I do like Holly but as with Lily, I have a cousin with this name
I guess it wouldnt matter if I had like 15 cousins but I only have 4!

Bay is cute, some of the herby names are really lovely.

On the plant/flower theme I know a Daisy, Poppy, Liliana, Jasmine, Holly, Violet, Rosie, Hazel.

I really love the name Bay and wanted it for DD but DH wasn't keen.

stdomingo · 03/07/2010 20:27

Hahaha yeah I realised after I'd typed it that it could be construed as wanting to call the poor thing Constantania hehe.

Marigold - aaaah I love it, that's gonna be such a massive no, but I'm gonna try!

stillbumbling · 03/07/2010 20:16

Sorrel. Sorrel, Sorrel. Don't know about speeling. But that's the name I'm planning.

stdomingo · 03/07/2010 20:15

Poppy and Clover make me think of pets, no offence!
I feel Poppy growing on me but then I think of my aunties jack russell! Aaagh

Primrose was on my shortlist for all 3 of my boys (if they'd been girls)

I also really like Poppy and Clover

stdomingo · 03/07/2010 20:10

Oooh I'll have to have a look at it.
I wanna fill my house with flowers for inspiration haha!

I've got months to think, but I just want to decide a couple!

Boy's was well easy!

Haliborange · 03/07/2010 20:08

It's a kind of lily (a very nice one!)

stdomingo · 03/07/2010 19:57

Hehe Primrose does sound cute, despite the grannies!
Never heard Calla before?!

OP posts:
Haliborange · 03/07/2010 19:53

Calla?
I find myself strangely drawn to Primrose, even though it does make me think of grannies.

stdomingo · 03/07/2010 19:47

Lilac is sweet!

I think Rosie is really pretty too although I had a cat called Rosie once - I need to stop being so picky!!

OP posts:
lonelyonly · 03/07/2010 19:45

Lilac is beautiful too!

stdomingo · 03/07/2010 19:45

Not into Fleur guys but thank you!

Some of the others are really sweet!

I just love Ivy damnit, it sounds less 'babyish' than Daisy which is my second choice. I'm 22 and I can't imagine being happy if my name was Daisy.

lonelyonly · 03/07/2010 19:45

Heather is lovely, I like Ivy a lot too. I have a friend called Ivy who is 28 and loves her name. Not keen on Iris because it immediately makes me think of eyes! (sorry, that may just be me who is weird!)

I love Poppy and Rosie.

MortaIWombat · 03/07/2010 19:44

Hebe

Bryony

Jasmine

Bluebell

Poppy

Saffron
