Hi, we are not sure which to choose for our baby girl. Any preference?

Claudine is nice (I may have just made that up though?)

mopsyflopsy · 02/07/2010 17:32

I agree about the negative meaning of Claudia. And even if you don't care, your dd may.

Pascale is quite nice, actually. I used to have a French exchange friend called this. Not sure how common it is these days in France.

DrivenToDistraction · 02/07/2010 17:26

Claudia, a friend at school was Claudette

Thissideofchannel · 02/07/2010 17:20

The meaning of Claudia would put me off (lame, disabled)...

gigismummy · 02/07/2010 17:09

same as the boy. we just can't agree on names, it's so difficult

Claudia is quite rare, but pretty in French.

Pascale is horribly dated.

MmeLindt · 02/07/2010 16:42

Claudia

I didn't realise there was a feminine version of Pascal - only know it as a boy's name. How is Pascale pronounced?

LynetteScavo · 02/07/2010 16:40

i LOVE claudia

not too fussed on pascale although i did have a baby doll when i was about 7 or 8 that i named Fleur Pascale

in my accent it would be really pretentious or chav depending on who hears it too think how it would sound if cilla black were to say it

coffeefestival · 02/07/2010 16:01

Much prefer Pascale.

JimmyTarbuck · 02/07/2010 15:50

I have a Claudia and have had nothing but positive feedback about it. She is an absolute peach, mind you It's not that common either. It gets shortened to Claudi quite a lot. Not sure how you would shorten Pascale if you wanted to.

Claudia every time!

LolaKnickers · 02/07/2010 15:41

Claudia's nice. It also suits grown ups as well as babies, unlike a lot of people's names, so I think it's a good choice. I think Pascale is OK if you are actually French, otherwise it's pretentious.
