Claudia gets my vote.

As for meanings - my name means 'servant' and I'm no-one's servant.

Hedwig3 · 04/07/2010 07:49

Claudia

LetThereBeRock · 03/07/2010 11:45

Claudia is lovely. The meaning of the name wouldn't bother me. It's not very often that one has to discuss the meaning of one's name.

talkingnonsense · 03/07/2010 11:37

Do you say claudia to rhyme with lord at the beginning, or like cloud in the sky? Jonathan Ross and elle mcpherson doing it each way last night!

diddl · 03/07/2010 11:21

Claudia is lovely.

Pascale sounds like a boys name imo.

mopsyflopsy · 03/07/2010 10:59

NiceCuppaT, as you ask, my name means 'Beautiful Serpent' .

Has it affected my life? Hard to say, but I quite like my name's meaning.

rachel234 · 03/07/2010 10:55

The meaning would put me off Claudia, to be honest. Shame, as it is a nice name otherwise.

I agree, if you've ever studied Latin you will find it hard not to see the meanings of many names...

NiceCuppaT · 03/07/2010 10:53

What does your name mean mopsyflopsy?
Has it affected your life?

mopsyflopsy · 03/07/2010 10:37

"Does anyone really care about what their name means?? I don't care about mine and I don't even know what my friends names mean! Who makes up that sh*t anyway!? "

No one makes these meanings up! If you've ever studied Latin or Greek, you will know that many words/names are derived from these languages. In the case of Claudia, the Latin word 'claudus' happens to mean "lame, crippled".

mathanxiety · 02/07/2010 20:48

Bonsoir, I love the quaint Profil Psychologique for each name

mathanxiety · 02/07/2010 20:44

Pascale.

As for what's fashionable or not in France, consider the enduring popularity there of Kevin...

Claudia sounds a bit harsh or masculine to me.

beccagrace2 · 02/07/2010 20:30

love claudia, but we have one so maybe biased. she is 4 months and it totally suits her...go for it!

NiceCuppaT · 02/07/2010 20:12

Love Claudia, it's top of my list, does anyone really care about what their name means?? I don't care about mine and I don't even know what my friends names mean! Who makes up that sh*t anyway!?

jkklpu · 02/07/2010 20:00

Pascale

pointydog · 02/07/2010 19:57

I like the sound of Pascale but if it is v old-fashioned in france then I'd go for Claudia.

HarijukuLover · 02/07/2010 19:41

Pascale is lovely.

gigismummy · 02/07/2010 19:08

was going to be DD's name until she was born and then she just wasn't a Claudia

still a beautiful name IMO

Trucker · 02/07/2010 18:58

Claudia

Fimbo · 02/07/2010 18:54

In my French book at school, there was a Francine and her sister Claudette.

BessieBoots · 02/07/2010 18:35

I didn't know that Claudia meant that. It's so pretty.

There are millions of pretty French names... Sabine, Delphine, Jean, Manon...

LolaKnickers · 02/07/2010 18:31

As her daddy is actually French, Pascale is lovely and not at all pretentious.

I love Clementine - was on my long list but it has been vetoed due to the orange point.

I don't think Genevieve and Giselle are too close. Genevieve is my favourite; it's lovely, especially as she's half French.

gigismummy · 02/07/2010 18:12

oh god I didn't realise/had forgotten the meaning of the name claudia. We were also thinking of nina, and I liked Darcey or Saskia, but he says the first she would get teased in a french playground, the second is a dog's name in france. Anyone know. Thanks for the name list. We thought about Genevieve but her sister is Giselle which is a little close. Clementine - will she be teased for being an orange?
