There are LOADS of: Jack, Sam, Oscar, Harry, Tom, Charlie around here.

The ONS list is usually produced in the autumn, isn't it?

PlodTheToastie · 01/07/2010 11:17

Jack- everyother boy round here is called Jack.
Ben- also very common.
Jacob- 3 in ds' class alone
Joshua- seem to be a lot at toddler group
Samuel- lots of babies I know called that.

sophiesmummie · 01/07/2010 11:06

The ONS publishes national lists, showing all names given in a year. It then lists the number of children given each name.

Not sure if the 2009 list is out yet.

plaggycheese · 01/07/2010 07:11

Jack
Joshua
Samuel
Dylan
Charlie

I have a Theo and he's nearly 2 but all of a sudden i've heard of 4 babies in our small town have been called it also in the last 6 months so I guess that might be just as popular elsewhere.

Otherwise Jack, Reuben and Alfie seem to be popular around my way.

I'm not only considering popular names; I just like names that are popular.

CuppaCoffeeJanice · 30/06/2010 17:40

Why are you limiting your choices so much by only considering names that are popular?

Are you worried about bullying if you choose a name you like rather than one that thousands of other people have chosen?

It all seems really bizarre, like when you see groups of teenagers all dressed exactly the same because a certain item of clothing is in fashion, regardless of whether the clothing suits the wearer or not.

Chynah · 30/06/2010 15:24

Max
Thomas

Those are lovely domesticsluttery, where in Wales are you?

littleoldme · 30/06/2010 07:40

LB - I know two Jacobs and they are both complete poppets. We told my BIL what we were going to call DS and he turned his nose up and we didn't use it. People are not usually rude enough to comment once the baby has been named. FFS a frend of mine even mangaged to be enthusiastic about a Floyd !

LittleBeth53 · 30/06/2010 01:59

The most popular boys name I know of is Jack. I'm having a boy in September & I've picked Jacob for my baby name because I love it & I thought it was multifunctional, he can be Jakey when he's a baby, Jake when he's a boy & Jacob when he grows into a man. None of my friends seem to like it though! Hence the reason why if anybody asks me now if I've picked a name yet, I say "Ummmm.....not really," even though I have! Haha!

But Jack, Harry, Charlie etc are names I hear a lot these days.

Just13moreyearstogo · 29/06/2010 23:48

Joshua, Thomas, Oliver, Jack
