Hi anyday now could have ds2.
Was trying to decide between Beau and Rocco and couldn't decide!!

Now I'm thinking between Beau,Rocco and Luke!

His big brother is called Ellis James.

Also does anyone know how easy it is to change my sons surname? He has my df's surname(which is awful)and I was wondering if I could add my surname infront? He's nearly 2.

Thanks mn's

I prefer Luke!

Aitch · 24/06/2010 17:47

lovely name i think.

annasophia · 24/06/2010 17:45

I really don't like Luke at all and agree with previous poster that it will not travel well into other languages.

In German, it would be pronounced Loo-keh, and actually means a hatch (little window), so

die Luke = the hatch.

From your list I prefer Rocco. Easy to pronounce in all languages and a bit quirky/unusual.

Luka is great but then I feel like I'm going round in a circle and I may aswell as just stuck to Rocco(which I love) but worry that I can't get away with it as I'm not Italian!!!

Thanks for fb.

TBH, it really wouldn't have suited him, it made me feel like I was trying to hard and Luke really suits him. He is quite a no nonsense baby, and I think his name is too. The other names are a bit......flowery and my Luke is not!

emmyloo2 · 24/06/2010 15:26

What about Luka?

englishmummyinwales · 24/06/2010 15:09

Love Luke, I have a Lukas which sometimes gets shortened to Luke, although mostly only by his older brother. There are a few Lucas' around, but only know one Lukas (mine) and one Luke! It's definitely not as popular as one might imagine. Good luck with your impending birth!

pippylongstockings · 24/06/2010 14:59

I think Luke is one of those names that you don't really hear children being called anymore - along with Paul or Richard.

Perfectly normal name - unusual in as much as we all try so hard to be original that it is the more unusual names that become ordinary. I bet if you call him Luke he will be the only one in his class but that there will be several Ethan/Baily/Dylan etc.

rachel234 · 24/06/2010 14:42

Sorry, but I don't like Luke at all. Sounds very boring/dull and won't travel well into other languages.

I prefer Rocco.

Thanks for fb everyone!

Wow stretch but do you now love the name Luke?I bet it suits ds and you couldn't imagine Theo or Logan

PrincessMaddi · 24/06/2010 14:18

yes you can change the last name by deed poll, just google it.

love all the names, maybe Lucas or Luca would go better with Ellis though.

Stretch · 24/06/2010 14:07

I was the same with DS2, I wanted to call him Theo or Logan, but it didn't really go with the other DCs names and people were really mean about the names so we went with Luke.

Cinderellarach · 24/06/2010 13:53

It's like I'm trying too hard with Rocco..
Luke is more normal..I'm sure nobody would think I'm being OTT with Luke.

I'm changing my mind every day.I'm scared I'm going to choose a name when it's born then go off it within a day!!What's wrong with me??

Thanks for feedback. Most people like Luke.
Rocco and Beau are like my 'guilty pleasue names'.

love Luke

Blu · 24/06/2010 13:24

Go with Luke.

emmyloo2 · 24/06/2010 13:19

Luke is much much nicer than Beau or Rocco in my opinion. I think Luke is a lovely name. Also like Lucas.

marriednotdead · 24/06/2010 12:06

I have a Luke too, a good traditional name. Quirky is probably best description (mild ASD) but great fun

Name change can be done by deed poll at a solicitors, you'll need the consent of his father if he has parental responsibility.

Stretch · 24/06/2010 12:06

I have a Luke! He is obv lovely (not biased at all!)

When he was born, DH took great delight in saying to him, "Luke, I am your father"!!

sweetheart · 24/06/2010 12:04

I don't like Rocco at all, Beau is ok but I prefer Luke. I have a Lucas which we sometimes shorten to Luke when we are talking to him so I obviously think it's a lovely name

DastardlyandSmugly · 24/06/2010 11:54

Going against the grain here but I like them in this order:

  1. Rocco
  2. Beau
  3. Luke
Fourleaf · 24/06/2010 11:52

Luke is a lovely name. Not so keen on Beau or Rocco.

hogshead · 24/06/2010 11:35

Luke is my Ds's middle name - love it

BuzzingNoise · 24/06/2010 11:32

Beau and Rocco NO.
Luke YES

flopsy1974 · 24/06/2010 11:31

Luke is a great name and much nicer than your other two choices.
Would have been on my list but our surname begins with L and doesn't go.
