WDYT? I like the 1920's NY feel to it, but I realise it may qualify as being in the "LOL WTF" category.

We have a remote control dog called Baxter (he's very cute )

doubleexpresso · 23/06/2010 17:31

Baxter Cup-A-Soup... Dexter instead? Lochlan?

meadowlarks · 23/06/2010 17:35

Don't like Dexter, or Lochlan.

I like Dexter but Baxter just makes me think soup. Sorry!

HurleySatOnMe · 23/06/2010 17:48

If it's 20s New York you're after, there's far better names you could pick

Hedwig3 · 23/06/2010 18:01

Quite liked it until I read the soup comment, not sure.

mathanxiety · 23/06/2010 18:06

Porsche Boxster here and Buster Baxter here, from the Arthur cartoon. Not really NY 1920s.

going · 23/06/2010 18:08

Soup!!!

meadowlarks · 23/06/2010 18:11

Hurley - I'm already looking at similar names like Stanley, Clarence and Frank. The reason I wanted to ask about Baxter was it's a bit more controversial.

mathanxiety - Funnily enough, I was going to ask about Buster originally. I think I know what you'd say Nevertheless, there are endless things you could associate with any name, however mundane, so I don't take these things in to consideration unless they're truly off-putting.

My first thought was Bert Baxter and his beetroot stains too!

northlondonchoclover · 23/06/2010 18:17

Soup..

belgo · 23/06/2010 18:18

It's what we call an IV drip in Belgium.

Hedwig3 · 23/06/2010 18:53

BUSTER - now you're talking, much better

LetThereBeRock · 23/06/2010 19:09

It's hideous.

janeite · 23/06/2010 19:10

Yes - I thought of beetroot too.

Sorry Meadow but I really dislike it.

crumpetsolo · 23/06/2010 19:14

Sorry, sounds like a dog's name.

diplodoris · 23/06/2010 19:26

It's a surname and a soup.

meadowlarks · 23/06/2010 22:08

After Hedwig's response, can I have thoughts on Buster? Better/worse than Baxter?

OP posts:
LetThereBeRock · 23/06/2010 22:18

Buster is also horrid. It's no better.

LetThereBeRock · 23/06/2010 22:19

I might call a dog Buster but never a child.

Surprise · 23/06/2010 22:20

LOL WTF. It's horrible - sounds very American and also a bit {whispers} common. Sorry!

LynetteScavo · 23/06/2010 22:26

It sounds like a meat product.

northlondonchoclover · 24/06/2010 04:46

Its such an impossible task naming a child.. one has to think of all the angles!

nooka · 24/06/2010 05:35

Baxter is bad, and Buster is worse. Sorry!
