Do you like it? What kind of person do you think of when you hear it?

Personally, love it at the moment

There are 2 Chads at DD's nursery/school . . They are both horrible lil trouble makes . . so all it makes me think of is very naughty behavior

lovechoc · 18/06/2010 09:23

don't like it, sorry.

telsa · 18/06/2010 09:15

I know a Chad. he comes from an intellectual film-making family and is a successful media type in the UK. So that's what I think of.

phoenixflower · 17/06/2010 20:55

Reminds me of High School Musical!

Magalyxyz · 17/06/2010 13:11

wow I never knew there was a name for those tiny round circles trapped inside a hole punch!?!? who knew, well, most of you lot!

NiceCuppaT · 17/06/2010 09:10

Dislike sorry, too American!

mathanxiety · 17/06/2010 05:48

Here's a photo of a vote counter in Florida trying to see if a chad was hanging or attached...

Is that true about the hole punch thingy?

mathanxiety · 16/06/2010 19:15

I think frat boy too. Frat boy from the way-out suburbs who got driven everywhere as a child because there are no footpaths, not even a shred of urban grittiness.

LilMagill · 16/06/2010 16:20

To be fair, there is a St Chad (from the 7th century), it's not just made-up or from the country.

That said, I still don't like it. It sounds like a stereotypical dumb American guy.

Magalyxyz · 16/06/2010 16:10

It like the poorest country in Africa I think, or was.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 16/06/2010 16:04

I don't like it, sorry.

singersgirl · 16/06/2010 15:57

The dead heart of Africa. Very poor and very corrupt. Not really a particularly attractive country to name a child after. How about Togo?

PuppyMonkey · 16/06/2010 13:27

It makes me think of the Mansfield Chronicle Advertiser - otherwise known as The Chad. ie a newspaper. Kind of like calling a baby Daily Mail

mopsyflopsy · 16/06/2010 13:19

I like it.

jellybeans · 16/06/2010 12:37

I quite like Chad - masculine, simple and easy to pronounce.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 16/06/2010 11:29

DS sponsors a dog called Chad. I don't dislike the name but it does make me think of his dog.

seenyertoeslately · 16/06/2010 11:19

The only thing it calls to my mind is the little man looking over the wall. He's been around a long time - my Grandad told me that he was drawn regularly in WW11, looking over his wall and asking 'Wot no....' about stuff that was rationed.

So the name has a history - and it's also a country. Wouldn't pick it myself.

stleger · 16/06/2010 10:41

I know a Chad who is 6ft7ins tall. He used to carry my toddlers round on his shoulders. My ds is 18 now, and that is his earliest memory. So I'd be pro Chad.

PickleSarnie · 16/06/2010 10:36

It reminds me of an american frat boy with chinos, big shoulders and a flat head.

But I spent far too long hanging out in dive bars whilst in the States though.

tyler80 · 16/06/2010 10:35

A chad is the little round circle of paper you get left over after using a hole punch
