What names did you nearly choose for your DC's? Would it suit them now? Is it the same style as the one you chose?

DP is 3 months pregnant and we have a few set in stone, wondering if by 9 months we'll choose something completely different!

my DD was Hannah right through the pregnancy but a friend had a DD a few weeks before i was due and called her Hannah so we decided to change it

i am glad though as she just is a Sian hannah doesnt suit her at all!!

mumof2teenboys · 14/06/2010 09:28

My eldest was going to be Loki all the way through my pregnancy. My mum created such a fuss about how much she hated it, we changed our minds in the delivery room.

As he got older, it was so obvious that it was 'him' iykwim. He now says that he wants to call his son Loki if and when he has children

sparkleshine · 13/06/2010 22:11

When ttc we always had Daniel for a boys name. He was Daniel up until near end of pregnancy then we thought of Thomas and loved it.
He is definately a Thomas and It actually goes better with middle name. So glad we didn't go with Daniel, though I still love the name.

Another going to be Charlotte or Abigail or Rebecca, She ended up Rebecca but I think both the others would have suited her.

DS was always going to be Samuel.

mamatomany · 12/06/2010 18:29

DD1 could have been Grace which would have suited her or Charlotte which really wouldn't have. I like her name still, DC2 and DC3 Dh and I named our absolute favorites so no regrets there.

helyg · 12/06/2010 18:21

DS1 was very nearly called Steffan. Which does suit him, and isn't dissimilar to his actual name, but I am glad that I didn't choose it as there are 4 of them in his (small) school whereas he is the only one with his name

With DS2 I had only actually thought of girl's names! So it took us a few days to think of one.

With DD we had decided on her name quite early on, and stuck with it.

Helokitty · 12/06/2010 18:14

DD2 was going to be Annabel Sophia throughout my pregnancy. I can't imagine her as an Annabel. When Annabel was eventually rejected with did toy with Charlotte (nn Lottie), and I could really see her as a Lottie.

I also think she suits her actual name.
DD1 was always going to have her name.

HotSprocket · 12/06/2010 09:09

DD was going to be Rosa. Then she popped out and for some reason i just knew she wasn't a Rosa.
She is Rebecca now so not too different.

oliviacrumble · 12/06/2010 09:08

Ds1 was almost Marcus but we finally decided on Paddy, which I love. It's a family name, and really suits him.

Psammead · 12/06/2010 09:01

DD was almost Alice, which I think would also suit her.

A small part of me felt that she didn't suit the name we chose until a couple of weeks ago when she started to turn her head when I called her it. Now it's just her name

ShadeofViolet · 12/06/2010 08:17

DS1 was very nearly Callum until a last minute change of heart.

I wanted DS2 to be Oliver, but with DS2 having quite a traditional name I wanted something a bit fancier

DD had no name until about 2 weeks before. Pregnancy hormones must have taken over as while I like the name I chose, if I could name her again I would. I wanted her to be an Olivia and I still do

mumofeightplusfour · 12/06/2010 08:11

ds4 was hayden from 20 week scan when he arrived i immediately felt it didnt suit him as it meant littlle fiery one when he arrived stretched both hands yawned and went back too sleep . he is still very placid. he ended up as gabriel a name that we'd both discounted during pregnancy and it suits him perfectly.

chipmonkey · 12/06/2010 01:52

LOL at Imarriedofrog and thisisyesterday having identical taste! Ds1 should have been Sam but then I decided a Sam wouldn't have dark hair as ds1 had at birth. Think I was a bit baby-bluesy! Anyhow, he did later turn blond.

My DS was going to be Luca/Luka or James. We had no preference - loved them both! As soon as we saw him though he was def a James through and through. Even now at 19 months he's def a James and doesn't suit Luca/Luka at all! I'm pleased tho as James is such a long standing family name (both first and middle name). We gave him the nickname JJ (James Junior) for the first couple of weeks but had to ask everyone to stop calling him it as he's def a James and nothing else suits him!

On the other hand my sister chose the names Amber and Holly for her 2nd child. If she was born in December or January she'd have been called Holly but she was 2 weeks overdue and came on 7th Feb so my sister called her Amber. It's a shame as even now, at 12 years old, she is def a Holly not an Amber (in my opinion). My sister did say a couple of years ago she wished Amber was born on time (in Jan) as Holly suits her much more with her dark brown hair and hazel eyes. Maybe I'll steal the name if I have a DD?!

I love the name Emma-Leigha for a girl. She could be called by the full name ie like Emily but with an a (Enily-a) or just Emma or Emmy or Em or Emma. So many variations but my DH HATES it so bang goes that name that I vowed to call my first daughter for the past decade! Oh well you win some you lose some! Lol

Husband wanted isambad kingdom brunel - first dc was a girls so all breathed sigh of relief

cory · 12/06/2010 00:11

Wanted Erland for ds, but dh wouldn't hear of it. Chose other exotic unpronouncable Scandinavian name, which actually seems to suit him better.

Sithmummy · 12/06/2010 00:10

dd was going to be Thomas. I didn't have any girls' names because I couldn't imagine being a mum to a girl.

It still wouldn't suit her.

Hedwig3 · 12/06/2010 00:06

SpringHeeledJack that is so funny!

Both lovely names though, you couldn't go wrong.

isittooearlyforgin · 12/06/2010 00:04

loved Ruby and Rueben, would almost consider having dc 3 (but not quite!!)

SpringHeeledJack · 12/06/2010 00:04

awww thanks Clary!

Valpollicella · 12/06/2010 00:00

DS was between his name and Oliver...He most definately suits his current name.

Love love love the name Oliver, but it's most definately NOT his name

katiepotatie · 11/06/2010 23:57

ds was going to be Max, until MIL bought dd a baby Max doll!
Though it wouldn't have suited him anyway
