My other half isn't keen, and although I know I can convince him, I wanted to look at other options, I quite like Evan but is this a bit Girly??? I don't want a far out name, I want it to be stronf quite trendy but also traditional too!! My DD is called Isabella and it is still my favorite name and I want to love the next one forever too!!!!

Digby sounds like an arthritic golden retirever belonging to an aggressive fox hunting landowner. Fine, if you like that sort of thing.

LynetteScavo · 12/06/2010 18:43

Felix

Digby

But not Keith.

MarthaQuest · 12/06/2010 18:36

Today's Keiths are all called Kai now.

MarthaQuest · 12/06/2010 18:35

What about Keith?

I know it sounds like your slightly pot bellied middle aged neighbour mowing his lawn at 9 am but in the 1950s it was proper cool.

and it means 'breeze' which is nice

Time for a revival IMO

LaserWidow · 12/06/2010 12:28

Ooooohh I really don't know if I can say. Someone always says Eeugh!!! and a part of you dies inside, even though it doesn't affect how much you like it. I know how crunched's SiL feels because that particular Tweenie has a very disturbing head IMO. It's the hair that does it. Is it too late to refer to the child by his middle name? Milo is so nice, it does seem a shame.

crunched · 12/06/2010 01:20

OH LaserW -what is this name of which you are so fond?Do tell!

Reminds me of my SiL who was desperate to call her DS Milo, then a Tweenies character arrived with that name. She relegated it to a middle name, gave him an altogether average one, and regrets it to this day.

LaserWidow · 12/06/2010 00:59

There's a Dexter at my Mums & Tots, and TBH I never think of serial killers when I see him. Whatever you call your DS, it will become him and not a TV show that was on at the time. If you like it, and it suits, go for it. Plus there's always the added bonus of middle names. (I didn't tell anyone the name I really wanted to call DS, because I thought everyone would think it rubbish, and I didn't want to hear it slated. I nurse it to my heart still.)

Sal321 · 11/06/2010 23:37

Isn't Dexter a type of cow?

lidofabiro · 11/06/2010 11:18

Dexter makes me think of Gatsby, and too much money leading to misery.

lamplighter · 10/06/2010 21:27

Fletcher goes with Dexter, Finlay and Dylan for me. A name of this era. In twenty years time you will know by the name the year(s) they were born.

Also I always think of 'Fletch' as in Porridge the comedy!

SillyTillyBilly · 10/06/2010 19:35

I much prefer Evan to Dexter. It is less of a 'now' name and Dexter will always be the murderer in the books/tv to me.

meadowlarks · 10/06/2010 19:13

If you want the "-er" sound:

Buster
Hector
Kester
Fletcher
Parker
Piper

lidofabiro · 10/06/2010 17:37

Elliot
Elias

LadySanders · 10/06/2010 17:34

fletcher comes to mind...

Jamieandhismagictorch · 10/06/2010 17:29

Less trendy :

Matthew
Patrick

Jamieandhismagictorch · 10/06/2010 17:27

One of my DSs is Evan - not girly (IMO)

Also

Haydn
Asa

CantSupinate · 10/06/2010 17:12

Carter, Clayton, Haydon, Dillon, Rutger, Ethan, Devon, Bailey, Casper, Jasper, Mark.

lidofabiro · 10/06/2010 17:01

Evan is a very good name IMO. I prefer it to Dexter.

AbFabT · 10/06/2010 15:14

Denver (means green valley).
It's like Dexter but also has the EVN from Evan!

Do I win?!

sweetnitanitro · 10/06/2010 14:45

Nestor or Hector.

HansieMom · 10/06/2010 14:43
