Okay, go easy on me, first baby and first appeal for feedback in this folder! We have our boys' names sorted but have been struggling with girls' names. We want a 3 syllable name as our surname is one syllable (It sounds a lot like Home).

Names I like but DH doesn't:

  • Victoria
  • Eleanor
  • Miranda

Names DH likes but I don't (no offence intended):

  • Penelope
  • Stephanie
  • Rhiannon

We both like:

Rosalind - means 'pretty rose' in Spanish or 'red dragon' in German, both work as we're expecting a little red head. Lots of lovely nicknames, Rosa, Rosie, Lindy etc
Mirabel - like Isabel which I love but not as ubiquitous
Felicity - nicknames Flick, Fee and it means happy
Jemima - nicknames Jem, Mimi
Helena - but not convinced this works as our surname begins with H

Potential middle names include Elizabeth, Zoe or Blake (a family surname).

Feedback appreciated

Thanks for that stripey. Realy love Helena but was worried she'll sound like a founder of Hogwarts (they're all called things like Helga Hufflepuff and Rowena Ravenclaw).

Want to know the proper word too now!

Helena Zoe Home
Felicity Blake Home

Felicity is four syllables. I had a three syllable surname and longed to be Jane Smith or something else short rather than the 7 syllable mouthful my parents gave me. I like the name in itself but I would be careful that it matches your surname.

My favourite is Jemima or if four syllables is an option then Persephone

Felicity is nice. I also like Helena, I love it when a first name and surname start with the same letter (what is the proper word for that)!

As for the other names, I really don't like Rhiannon. The others are ok but don't grab me.
