Tell me so I can steal it please!

DS2 due oct- DH hates the ones I like (Jude, Gabriel) because he says they are girly . He likes Edward and George, which are ovely names but I think I'd like something a bit more unusual.

I also love Seamus (my family is Irish) but it sounds odd with our very English surname!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

maedowlarks nope, an aquantaince who is a bit of a geek. I had forgotton that Nick Cage had also called his son Kal-el.

Though I have to say DH is a Batman fan and all 3 of mine have a related name somewhere in their names . Though if you didn't know Batman then you wouldn't know.

I like Jude, but didn't use it for any of mine because it reminds me too much of this

we have Gabriel, Linus and Asa (middle names are Edward, William and Nicholas)

DomesticG0ddess · 08/06/2010 11:48

Love Ted/Teddy - not that unusual, was my grandad's name, but does not work with our surname. Also Sonny, again problem with the surname (yes, there is a theme here).

DS is Jackson, which was my favourite name and luckily DH liked it too. But now need another boy's name!!!

Just saw Sullivan on another thread - liking that.

imahappycamper · 08/06/2010 11:43

Benedict. Wanted it for DS2 but shouted down by the rest of the family. Ben is fine as a dim.

Tidey · 08/06/2010 11:30

Zebedee

meadowlarks · 08/06/2010 11:29

uninvited - Mycroft? That's a new one. There was a girl at my school called Ottilie, which I can't say I like, it reminds me of otters. Like Ava though.

MrsGokWan - LOL. Nick Cage?

I loved Ambrose for a while, but something about it made me regret ever mentioning it...

MrsGokWan · 08/06/2010 09:13

Know someone who's son is Kal-el.

theuninvitedguest · 07/06/2010 23:45

I was always infatuated with Benedict Taylor when I was a teen (Beau Geste)

We know of a family of 4 DC: Atticus, brother called Mycroft, and two sisters Ava and Ottilie.

meadowlarks · 07/06/2010 23:34

theuninvitedguest - I love Eden (seriously considering that one) and Benedict. I'm slightly infatuated with Benedict Cumberbatch, but that's another story The only thing is that he'd end up being called Ben for convenience, which I don't like that much. I think I can safely say if I had four sons right now (gasp) I'd call them Atticus, Eden, Jem and Teddy.

theuninvitedguest · 07/06/2010 21:27

Used to know a (very very fit and lovely) bloke called Thor...mmmmm....
Troy is also nice.
Milo is a Tweenie!
Have a friend who has been called Topher from birth, short for Christopher, very cool guy.
Eden
Nat (short for Nathananiel)
Dane
Benedict
Seamus

All names I would have loved if DH hadnt been a bit dull about names. He wouldnt even let me have Joe, as he said only boxers are called Joe!

itstooruddycold · 07/06/2010 21:08

Archie

Ineedsomesleep · 07/06/2010 20:48

Met a bloke today called Hawthorne.

spanky2 · 07/06/2010 19:25

Milo. My ds2 is a Milo. Or Reeve - my friend's ds3

FranSanDisco · 07/06/2010 19:21

Ash, Jude, Jedd and Sonny.

sedgiebaby · 07/06/2010 19:17

hmmm Paddington - its growing on me!

Seeker: Why even peruse threads about unusual names? I've seen some of your other posts and you know you are not going to enjoy yourself and you will go and be tempted to say something critical and negative. You wont be able to help it and it will spoil everyones nice time. The thing is I'm worried its not very good for your nerves.

Original Poster: I think you should do some arm twisting on Jude, it is not remotely girly IMO, I kind of see that for Gabriel (on my shortlist though before I knew I was having a girl). I went to school with a Gabriel and he never got any flack for his name, he was also one of the kool kids lol!

meadowlarks · 07/06/2010 18:44

I like Paddington A good friend is called Pad, which could work well as a NN.

Okay, dream over...

Russell Crowe's son is called Tennyson, which I have to admit I quite like, being a fan of the poet and all. Tennyson Crowe is pretty much destined to be interesting.

theuninvitedguest · 07/06/2010 14:45

I was v. keen on Paddington for one of mine but DH was not! I just thought it would sound very distinguished for when DS became knighted ...Sir Paddington Uninvitedguest. DH pointed out he was equally as likely to end up in prison and get beaten up for having a silly name..... actually now, DS says he wouldnt have minded having it as a middle name!

seeker · 07/06/2010 12:07

Paddington? Paddington?

Someone didn't suggest Paddington, did they? Give me strength!

CuppaTeaJanice · 07/06/2010 11:44

Zen
Benji
Silas
Ueli
Nijah (I know it's a girls name but there must be a boys version somewhere)

Lionstar · 07/06/2010 11:38

My boys list was:

Osian
Bryn
Keir
Arlo
Garth
Milo
Gregory

I secretly had Tyrone and Cyrus too

DS ended up with 2 of them

meadowlarks · 07/06/2010 11:37

Oh, I forgot to say Teddy as well, or just Ted. Love it.
