Eden for a boy.

I know both a girl and a boy with this name, and I think it's great on both of them, and it reminds me of James Dean in East of Eden. In context, I think it really suits guys, however, I know on paper it seems quite feminine, which is why I wanted to canvas opinions. What do you think?

lidofabiro - Aidan just doesn't do it for me, I'm afraid...

Prefer Aidan for a boy.

Rubena · 07/06/2010 12:09

like it for a girl

NomDePlume · 06/06/2010 18:02

Eden is effeminate to me too, but the only Eden I know is male (6yrs old)

Enidwoodlouse · 06/06/2010 17:59

Agree with Casmama.

meadowlarks · 06/06/2010 14:47

Casmama - I never said you had to like my taste And yes, I am bonkers. Those are tame, extremely tame, compared to others I've thought of.

purepurple - That's good to know. Like I said I think it really suits boys, but I was expecting this "it's too girly" backlash...

One of DD's best friends is a male Eden. He is nearly 14.I have always loved his name, and it has always suited him. AFAIK, he never got teased or given a nickname.

tambourine · 06/06/2010 10:29

i know of a little boy: Eden Gardiner...hoping they don't send him to public school..

ambrosiacustard · 06/06/2010 10:16

Hey, I know a boy called Eden who is in the school under-9 rugby team.

Casmama · 06/06/2010 01:20

Atticus, Stanley, Arthur, Edmund, Somerset???
WTF sorry but you sound totally bonkers. Under the circumstances I think Eden is the way to go but please please reconsider your middle names!

TheNextMrsDepp · 06/06/2010 01:08

Way way too girly IMO.

aegeansky · 06/06/2010 00:49

No, just no. It's a girl's name.

Clary · 05/06/2010 22:47

LOL @ seeker.

I much prefer Arthur and Stanley, myself. Don't know anyone called Eden but know an Evan (boy) and Arden (girl) if that's any help.

SparklyGothKat · 05/06/2010 22:40

Eden is my ds2's middle name, I wanted it as his first name but DH veto'ed it and said no.

annasophia · 05/06/2010 22:32

Eden sounds masculine to me, perhaps because I've only ever met a male Eden.

Eden Stanley sounds great.

cece · 05/06/2010 22:32

Sounds girly to me.

Fanfare · 05/06/2010 22:29

I don't normally mind unisex names, but Eden is horrendously effeminate to my ears. Which is ironic given that the only Eden I know is a little thug rascal!

seeker · 05/06/2010 18:20

What's wrong with James if you want to be reminded of James Dean?!

Ineedsomesleep · 05/06/2010 18:19

I've met a couple both her were little girls and my first reaction was no, its a girl's name. It is growing on me though.

Letloverule 3! I bet their parents are pretty annoyed. They probably thought they were giving their DS a cool and unusual name.

RustyBear · 05/06/2010 18:11

The only Edens I've ever known - my BIL's half-brother an an ex-bf of DD's - are both male and I'd never thought of it as a girl's name at all until I read an MN baby name thread.

Lionstar · 05/06/2010 18:06

I like it. Has always been a boys name to me.

muggglewump · 05/06/2010 18:04

No, far too girly.

meadowlarks · 05/06/2010 18:04

mrspear - No thanks. I hate to see good names being changed for no point at all. I like the original spelling better, anyway.

DanJARMouse · 05/06/2010 17:55
