Maisie?

Expecting baby number 2 and we have suddenly fallen in love with the name Maisie (or should it be spelt Maisy?)
Think it would be such a lovely name for a little girl, was just worried it may be a bit cute for an adult.
Any thoughts or adult Maisies out there?
Thanks in advance

I have a Maisie.
The only other Maisie I know was an elderly friend of my parents (died several years ago would now be 80? 90? - old anyway!)
Definately suits any age.
Don't use it - don't want too many

Not usually a fan of cute names that sound great when you are 3 and not so much at 33.
I don't think Maisie fits that category though, I think it's lovely and perfectly acceptable for an adult. I did have an elderly aunt with the name though so that may be clouding my judgment.

PixieCake · 29/06/2010 17:40

I think it's a bit soft.

Patsy99 · 29/06/2010 17:06

It feels twee and very 'of the moment' to me, sorry.

SomeWhereOverTheRainbow4 · 29/06/2010 10:45

It's a beautiful name! I know a Lady called Maisie and I don't think it sounds too cutsie for an Adult at all!

Really gorgeous name xxx

flopsy1974 · 29/06/2010 09:38

Cute for a toddler not so sure for an adult I'm afraid.

roslet · 28/06/2010 14:06

Very pretty, but maybe put Mae on the birth certificate. Both Mae and Maisie at the school where I taught are lovely girls and very popular.

messylittlemonkey · 28/06/2010 13:40

I have a four yo Maisie - obviously I'm a fan!

People always say it's 'pretty', never 'cute'. It's more popular than it was when DD was born, I liked it because it was old fashioned and a bit different at the time.

Lancelottie · 25/06/2010 15:07

There are three in my daughter's year (but none in the rest of her school, bizarrely)

Kathleen123 · 25/06/2010 15:00

Very pretty name.

Jenbot · 24/06/2010 20:58

I like it, I think I'm going to call my puppy Maisie, but don't let that put you off!

LimaCharlie · 23/06/2010 19:27

Very pretty name - short for Margaret I think

lal123 · 23/06/2010 19:23

I love it and would have used it for DD2 - but DP didn't like it. He thought that it was cute for a little girl, nice for an old lady but not so good for hte in between bits!

LetThereBeRock · 23/06/2010 19:20

Maisie is lovely.

mollymax · 23/06/2010 19:18

I know of a Maisie who is probably now in her 60's. It is a lovely name and really suited her. If we had a boy i was going to use my maiden name as a middle name.

birdofthenorth · 23/06/2010 17:49

Love it. I know one aged 18 months and one aged 8. Both lovely girls.

Ragwort · 23/06/2010 16:39

Lovey name - very suitable for a child and an adult - I'd love to be 35 and called Maisie !

charlybear7 · 23/06/2010 16:38

I love it! My surname is Maisey and people quite frequently think its my first name. I'm thinking of keeping it if we have a girl and using it as her middle name!

DuelingFanjo · 06/06/2010 19:33

don't like it. Imagine being 35 and called Maisie!

Gingerbics · 06/06/2010 19:32

I love it, if that's any help and she could call herself May when she's older.

Gingerbics · 05/06/2010 19:21

Thanks, really useful hearing your comments, definately a mixed bag but overall people don't seem that keen. Still tempted tho, definately food for thought!

To cute for an adult - I would only use it if you could give her a proper name too. Margaret or possibly Mabel.

randomimposter · 05/06/2010 17:06

one of my cats is Maisie....

I DO like it though, but it's a BIT cute for me for an adult. Sorry.

lidofabiro · 05/06/2010 16:54

I like it as a name in its own right, but just looked it up out of curiosity and apparently it can be short for Margaret or Marjorie.
