Forgot this one on my list of boys names!
WHat do you think?
I think Bernie would fit in well with the Berties, Archies and Albies.
And Bernard is a good strong boys name for when babe is older.

Is it a bit weird in a sibset with very OT names though?

Would love opinions.

LOL at Nursie. "Shut up, Bernard"

pixiestix · 01/06/2010 09:21

Oh god, no!

Sorry.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 01/06/2010 09:18

Yes Nursie, Berrnerrrd.

BrigitBigKnickers · 01/06/2010 09:04

Oh dear- sorry but no- this was the joke name we gave my bump when I was pregnant with DD1!

Bernard is one of those names that conjures up an image of a man with a big bushy beard!

I love it. I think of 'Not now Bernard' first thing, but that's not necessarily a bad thing - means your son will have a whole famous book written about him.

Monkeytoo · 01/06/2010 04:03

But.. it will only take a few cool Bernards to change the perception too - same as Alfred I think.

Monkeytoo · 01/06/2010 04:02

We had a cat called Bernard - he was a foster cat but we didn't call him that. Because we're in the US it was pronounced Buh-naarrd which always made me smile.

That aside... not sure about Bernard but Bernie is cute.

SantaClaragirl · 01/06/2010 03:58

Not now Bernard

mathanxiety · 01/06/2010 03:55

Barnabus or Barnaby sound much more hip than Bernard, and they fit in better with OT sibling names than Bernard would, imo.

I wouldn't really put Bernard in the same category as other old man names. The other old man names you mention have crisp sounds; Bernie is too soft. I think it's the RN combination that does it in.

But Bernard Cribbins is cool.

NellieTheEllie · 01/06/2010 00:29

really not.
sorry

ShowOfHands · 01/06/2010 00:15

Not Now.

Not Ever.
