Help! One or two syllable girl's name needed for a middle name

We had our 21 week scan this week and had the lovely news that our little one is a girl. Cue happy name choosing!

We had the first name sorted already, but now need to choose the middle names (two). I'm really keen on Elizabeth for one of the middle names as it's a family name, but given that the chosen first name is two syllables and so is our surname, I think we'd better stick to a fairly short second middle name, so our poor daughter doesn't get writer's cramp each time she has to fill out a form...

The one syllable names that initially spring to mind are ones like:

Rose (grandmother's middle name)
Grace
May / Mae
June
Leigh
Jean (another family name)
Pearl (which due to a person association I wouldn't choose)
Jane (which due to a person association DH wouldn't choose!)
Eve (not possible with combination of the other name choices)

As for any shortish two syllable names, our last name starts with E so names ending in "ie" or "a" aren't ideal, but some don't sound too bad.

I'd be really grateful for any more names that people can suggest! Thank you!

DS would have been Evelyn Pamela if he was a DD, FWIW.

Thanks everyone! I think Rose is definitely heading up the list so far!

Rose - I love that, and Elizabeth Rose goes so well together.

Hope?

Keziahhopes · 26/05/2010 23:02

I like the Rose you chose, especially for the reason. I think Joy goes well from the other suggestions ... happy choosing

Thanks InthisSequinbra - that's really good to know!

Sorry - yes, giving the first name would have been helpful!

It will be Evelyn, another family name. I can see that Eve/Eva/Evie is now really popular (which we had no idea was the case until I came onto MN!) but hopefully the fuller version will be a bit less prevalent (that's the hope anyway!).

At least with two middle names our daughter could choose to use one of those if she preferred.

Hard to think of one without knowing the first name.

diddl · 26/05/2010 15:34

I like the idea of Rose-especially as it´s a family name.

InThisSequinBraYesYouOlaJordan · 26/05/2010 15:30

I am two syllable Elizabeth two syllable and I have always been happy with that. My first name is short, though, only three letters, but still two syllables. Have Elizabeth if you want it, it will be fine

swanandduck · 26/05/2010 14:58

Ruth?

NoahAndTheWhale · 26/05/2010 14:55

I wouldn't worry too much about number of syllables - DS's first and middle names have three syllables each and surname two and he hasn't had to fill in any forms at the age of 6 .

What is the first name you are going to call your DD?

imustbepatient · 26/05/2010 14:54

Ooh - lovely suggestions, thank you. Will definitely add them to the list to see what DH thinks!
