Edward or Charlie?

Which do you prefer and are there any other similar style names?

Edward, nn Ted/Teddy
Charlie would be Charles officially!

Also quite like Harry. DD is Imogen.

Also what second names would go with Edward?

Thanks all - all the names I like are "overused" or "unoriginal" but frankly I am a traditional middle class gal and not about to plump for something else (I won't give examples in case I offend!) just to ensure my child is the only one of his name in his year.

Seems Edward is proving to be the popular choice.

Both are safe but a little dull/common (as in used a lot).

plonker · 31/05/2010 20:17

Edward. Fabulous name.

ZZZenAgain · 31/05/2010 18:00

they're both ok

pickler · 31/05/2010 17:58

Sophie much more overused than Edward.

I like Edward. I think Charlie is too much of a terror's name.

sophiesmummie · 31/05/2010 17:53

Neither - both overused.

annasophia · 30/05/2010 15:00

Not keen on either, there are so, so many Charlies and Eddies out there already .

Rubena · 29/05/2010 12:28

Charlie

CharlieBoo · 28/05/2010 22:17

Charlie......obviously lol

I like Eddie but not Edward or Teddy.

usualsuspect · 26/05/2010 21:16

Neither

dannas · 26/05/2010 21:15

I love Edward.

LittleSilver · 26/05/2010 20:51

Neither, waaaay unoriginaloverused.

Jux · 26/05/2010 19:43

Edward
or Edmund

sheeplikessleep · 26/05/2010 13:24

Love Edward

Mimi1977 · 26/05/2010 13:23

I'm thinking of having 3 children so don't want to use Charles Edward or vice versa as love them both so much!

It sounds like I am a royal family fan doesn't it!! Think I just love those old traditional names. Rather like Arthur but I do tend to think Fowler?!

Names I think are in a similar style

William
James
Frederick (Fred/Freddie)
Theodore (Theo)
Alexander (Alex)
Samuel
John
George
Philip
David
Andrew
Thomas
Jacob (Jake)
Richard

LouMacca · 26/05/2010 10:30

I really like both names but if I had to choose it would be Edward (Ted). Imogen and Edward sounds lovely

Hedwig3 · 26/05/2010 10:24

Charles/Charlie would be my preference as both the name and the nickname are lovely and there are far less of them around.

autodidact · 26/05/2010 10:15

Like Charlie but not Charles. Harry is ok. I don't like Edward at all for some reason.

Are you a royal family fan?!

BlameItOnTheBogey · 26/05/2010 10:07

I've got a Charles Edward and always feel a little bit sad that we didn't go for Edward/ Teddy.

SirBoobAlot · 26/05/2010 10:07

Edward.

sapell3 · 26/05/2010 10:05

Edward Charles would be a very good name

5DollarShake · 26/05/2010 09:59

Edward, definitely, for me.

I'm not big on the current popular diminutives like Charlie, Alfie, Archie, hence why I'd pick Edward.

jellybeans · 26/05/2010 09:37

Charlie

Hassled · 26/05/2010 09:35

Both top names - you can't go wrong with either .
