love it. very pretty.

LiquoriceLila · 22/05/2010 12:01

Sorry I think its awful.

winkle2 · 21/05/2010 20:58

I love it cause of a character from a book I loved when I was a kid (although I cant remember the name of the book!!).

I wouldnt shorten the name, I would leave it as Ursula pronounced er-shu-la

Really don't like it...I blame The Little Mermaid!

amateurmum · 21/05/2010 19:10

Beautiful name - I would have chosen it for dd if I could have persuaded dh to agree.

KristinaM · 21/05/2010 19:07

lovely

WhatsAllThisThen · 21/05/2010 19:06

I think it's ugly. SOrry!

LetThereBeRock · 21/05/2010 19:02

I hate it.

mazzystartled · 21/05/2010 19:01

I absolutely love it and it was high on our list if DS2 hd turned out to be a girl.

We would have used Sula day to day.

Love the meaning, and it is unusual without being weird.

autodidact · 21/05/2010 18:55

I would prefer to be named Little Bear than Ursula. And I wouldn't really like to be called Little Bear.

Would you pr. it Erse-ewe-la? Or Oor-soo-la? I quite like it as a full name but it hasn't got many diminutives.

sapell3 · 21/05/2010 17:58

Sorry but I don't like it.

blackcurrants · 21/05/2010 17:42

It's my big sister's name and she's terribly beautiful and strong (if a bit bossy!), so I've got good associations.

Her NN is "Ursie" (rhymes with nursey) and she's never had a huge problem with people being unable to pronounce it (grew up in north east).

teaandcakeplease · 21/05/2010 17:39

It reminds me of the sea witch from Little Mermaid

It's a good name, I'm just kidding. It's really nice. I used to have to speak to an Ursula at my work a lot when arranging things. She was LOVELY!!!

squashedfrogs · 21/05/2010 17:38

I love the fact that it means little bear.

Northernlurker · 21/05/2010 17:37

It's a good name - works for a child and a grown woman. You're the mother - you get to decide not your family (I assume your dh likes it?)
