Gabe?

countrybump · 19/05/2010 17:29

Monty can be short for Montague as well - I know a Monty who's full name is Montague.

LouMacca · 18/05/2010 18:58

George
Ollie (Oliver)
Tom (Thomas)
Max
Joe (Joseph)

again all great names but popular like Charlie and Harry.

strandedatsea · 18/05/2010 18:49

william, jack, Sam, edward....
they are all good solid (and unfortunately popular) names

mousemole · 18/05/2010 18:17

LOL at modern parents in Viz !!
Like Raphe as diminutive of Raphael.
What else 'goes' with Charlie and Harry ?

GladioliBuckets · 18/05/2010 18:06

I keep thinking of the Modern Parents in Viz for some reason.

mathanxiety · 18/05/2010 16:52

Raphael. I really dislike Monty.
Gabriel would be nice too.

swanandduck · 18/05/2010 16:41

Don't like either, tbh. If Monty develops naturally as a nn it's okay, but otherwise I just think it's trying too hard to be different.

bluecheesefiend · 18/05/2010 16:39

I agree with others that Monty sounds nicer with your other two but I love Raphael as Raffa or Raffy or even Raphe (sp?) like the gorgeous actor.

We're not sharing our preferred names with anyone in RL, just in case they react like your mum did (and I know my Dad would veto every one of them) - once the baby is born and named, they'll just have to be polite about it - ha!

LouMacca · 18/05/2010 16:23

Awful. I don't think either sound nice with Charlie and Harry tbh which are lovely names.

strandedatsea · 18/05/2010 15:58

Ugh, neither, sorry. Both make me think of army officers in red trousers haw-hawing at polo competitions.

Greensleeves · 18/05/2010 15:56

Raphael, nn Raffy

lovely

mousemole · 18/05/2010 15:55

full name Montgomery, nn Monty.

birdofthenorth · 18/05/2010 15:20

Sorry, agree with Gladioli!

GladioliBuckets · 18/05/2010 13:30

Neither. Both a bit Tarquin imo.

LetThereBeRock · 18/05/2010 13:27

Not Monty.It's awful.It's so wet.

CuppaTeaJanice · 18/05/2010 13:24

One's a dog. Or a very elderly war veteran.

The other's a turtle.

If these are the only two options I'd go for the latter, but only ever call him Raff.

minipie · 18/05/2010 12:55

not Monty - associations of seedy uncles.

Raphael (nn Raf or Raffie) would go fine IMO.

BalloonSlayer · 18/05/2010 12:36

As long as your surname isn't Burns

scampadoodle · 18/05/2010 12:35

Oh god, not Monty. Remember Uncle Monty from Withnail & I? [Shows age].

Gleeb · 18/05/2010 12:30

Monty for the win! My friends just had a girl and didn't get to use it (was first boy choice), I was so disappointed!

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 18/05/2010 12:28

Montgomery! That sounds better.

Are Charlie and Harry the whole name of the other two as well? If so, yes, Monty. If you have a Charles and a Henry, I think you have to go with a Montgomery. Which I actually really like.

BoldChislersMummy · 18/05/2010 12:27

Raphael. Monty sounds like a war hero. (which may be its appeal to some/??)

BalloonSlayer · 18/05/2010 12:24

tortoise, Monty is short for Montgomery.

Hedwig3 · 18/05/2010 12:21

Charlie, Harry and Monty sounds best.

Agree that Raphael would be the odd one out.
