Looking for an under used pretty girls name?

Just as the title says really.
We've chosen Patrick with everyone on heres help, think its a lovely underused traditional name.
Now we are trying to find the equivalent for a girl.

But.... needs to go with ds's Alfie and Archie and a surname of one syllable beginning with C (so unfortunately Rose is out). I would also like something that is adaptable, so you can have a cute name (maybe nn) or a serious name when older.

I don't want much I know

Any help would be most appreciated.

Any Isabels rather. Don't know where the apostrophe came from .

Wanderingsheep · 15/05/2010 20:42

I don't know any other Isabel's other than my own either!

Dizzydixies, I seem to follow you around on these name threads!

Elizabeth, classic but not overused these days.
Rebecca
Emma is lovely
My DD has a friend called Anya, which I think is really pretty.

sunshiney · 15/05/2010 20:35

Georgia

pretty on small girl, perfectly suitable for a grown up too.

dizzydixies · 15/05/2010 20:31

Isobel etc is certainly NOT massively overused up here and am fed up saying it

Op - it depends on where you are in the country, we are in Scotland, we have an Isabella and she is the only one we know apart from friends daughter who is 4yrs younger

how about

Marianne
Arianna
Celeste
Rosalind
Dilys

GoldenSnitch · 15/05/2010 20:26

I second thesecondcoming....Isobel/Isabel/Isabelle and Evelyn/Evie etc all massivly overused. I know at least 4 of each all under 3!!

Yes, I know a little girl called Romilly and she sometimes gets Romy. It suit her.

mathanxiety · 15/05/2010 19:31

Rosalie?

I like Rosemary/ Rosemarie -- Romy is a nice nn, imo.

brogan2 · 15/05/2010 19:26

Or Miranda?

Louise,
Eloise,
Isobel
Constance (Connie)

brogan2 · 15/05/2010 19:22

Yes, I like Rosalind with Ros for short. Josephine and Josceline both nice too. You could have Josie or Jos(s) for them.

alfiemama · 15/05/2010 19:17

Thanks Louplet, I like Rosalie, as softer than the others, only thing is my mum said sounds like Gypsy Rosa lee and now I cant seem to say it right also I think its becoming quite popular because of Twilight, not that this would necessary put me off as Esme is on our list.

Louplet · 15/05/2010 19:14

If you like Rose but too short how about:

Rosalind
Rosa
Rosamund
Rosalyn
Rosalie

can still then use Rosie as nn

alfiemama · 15/05/2010 19:07

Roseanna and Josephine are nice, thanks everyone.
Have to say not very keen on Gwyneth or Gwendolyn and unfortunately pedrothellamma hubby is still laughing at Persephone, he has not taste

FranSanDisco · 15/05/2010 18:02

Christina
Gwyneth
Sylvia

LuluF · 15/05/2010 18:00

And for a grown up name - Josephine with Posy as a nn? I want it but we have a Joseph.

nbee84 · 15/05/2010 17:59

Millicent - nn Millie

Friend has a little girl called Gwennan - nn Gwen - which I think is nicer than Gwendolyn.

LuluF · 15/05/2010 17:58

Actually, I know a 3 year old Gwen, and I think it's a lovely name.

grumpypants · 15/05/2010 17:56

Gwendolyn. I may even have another baby just to call it Gwendoln Mabel whatever sex it is...

pedrothellama · 15/05/2010 17:53

A name I love but not everyones cup of tea - she will always be correcting people on how to pronounce it and it could be considered a bit 'poncey' is Persephone

Pronounced Per-seff-onee

Say it quickly!

5inthebed · 15/05/2010 17:46

Roseanna? The woman in the bed next to when I had DS3 had a DD called Roseanna, really pretty name I thought.

Lydia
Natalie
Nicole

mazzystartled · 15/05/2010 17:45

Zoe was also in the running

mazzystartled · 15/05/2010 17:44

Nina (dd's name)
DS2 would have been Annie or Sula, if he'd been a girl.

WingedVictory · 15/05/2010 17:42

Michaela? or Delia

pigsinmud · 15/05/2010 17:42

I know loads of Emmas, Harriets and Alices under the age of 11 - I thought they were quite popular at the moment.

brogan2 · 15/05/2010 17:34

I don't think Evelyn is becoming too popular. Though I'm not too sure it goes with your boys names. (hope you're not offended, just mean it's a bit of a mouthful and doesn't flow IYKWIM) Hard to get all those 3 out together.

Audrey also lovely and I think goes well. And Marianne.
