DD was at school with a girl called Brianna, Bree for short.

Doozie · 31/05/2010 14:51

The Bree I know is Australian. It isn't short for anything.

jillhastwoponies · 31/05/2010 14:24

Breehy-hinny-brinny-hoohy-hah...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bree_(Narnia)

swanandduck · 31/05/2010 13:56

There's an Irish name Breda that was really popular about 40-50 years ago. Could be short for that.

sedgiebaby · 31/05/2010 08:56

I though it was Brianna or Brielle

thumbwitch · 31/05/2010 04:20

yes, ditto on Brianna here too. (silly me for not putting that last time)

Bree is fairly common in Australia as a name in its own right.

noyoucant · 16/05/2010 14:54

I thought it was short for Briana/Breanna (not sure how it's spelt).

The Irish name Bríd/Briege/Breege are all pronounced "Breege" but I've never heard anyone with this named shorten it to "Bree".

kateyfer · 16/05/2010 12:47

there is also another Irish name 'Breda' which I suppose could be shortened to Bree

treas · 15/05/2010 23:37

Bree was the talking horse in the book 'The Horse and his Boy' by C S Lewis, part of the Narnia series.

readerholic · 15/05/2010 23:11

breeze block

Mooncupflowethover · 15/05/2010 21:58

Brielle. I quite like that one.

LadyGardenia · 15/05/2010 19:44

Aubretia.

Might be going a bit far though.

TitchyWitch · 15/05/2010 19:36

The Bree I know is Briony.

nickelbabe · 15/05/2010 12:59

I know a Bree, and I'm not aware of it being short for anything.

i think it can be used in its own right.

AndieWalsh · 15/05/2010 12:58

The Bree I know is Sabrina

DuelingFanjo · 15/05/2010 10:23

OP posts:
SilveryMoon · 15/05/2010 07:56

I always thought it was a name in it's own right.
I quite like it.

Maize · 15/05/2010 07:53

Brianna/Brianne

Or just Brie as a name in its own right.

cumbria81 · 15/05/2010 07:48

I knew a girl called Brie once (like the cheese). I think it's a name in its own right.

oliviacrumble · 15/05/2010 00:36

Bree is a common Irish surname - maybe from there?

TheCrackFox · 15/05/2010 00:03

Fabreeze?
