Bertie. I think it is impossibly sweet, but would he be teased?? Would be Albert on birth cert. and could be Albie as a teen I suppose. My Grandad was Albert; a very hardcore Labour councillor who I'd like to honour in these bleak times...

Bertie Ahearn! forgot about him, good point. Very grown up sounding name now you come to mention it!

Not a dog's name then, that was my other concern?

In fact just remembered thats what finally put me off - mentioned it to BIL and he spent ages laughing at the thought of a Prince Albert.

I quite like Albie. Although it reminds me of Albumen.

Not at all keen on Albert though. I prefer Bertie as a nn for Robert. Although that's not a family name for you.

I seriously considered Albert for ds2 as love Bertie and Bert when older. Or even Al. Its a lovely name.

I was thinking more of royal connections than labour though

Gilbert and Hubert are other alternatives

I love the name Bertie - I was seriously considering it if DD had been a boy!

Bertie Ahearn didn't do too badly for himself. I prefer Bertie over Albie. I love the Labour link too.
