Bertie. I think it is impossibly sweet, but would he be teased?? Would be Albert on birth cert. and could be Albie as a teen I suppose. My Grandad was Albert; a very hardcore Labour councillor who I'd like to honour in these bleak times...

I love Albert. I didn't even think of it for DS2

4andnotout · 16/05/2010 14:57

I love both Albie and Bertie and adore Albert, in an ideal world I'd have twins called Stanley and Albert.

sunshiney · 16/05/2010 14:49

Nooo
reminds me of the granddad in only fools and horses

hippopo · 16/05/2010 14:45

My nephew is Albert and I think it is a lovely name with a wide choice of cute nn too!

LouMacca · 16/05/2010 13:03

Love Bertie. Its pretty much in the Archie/Alfie club but not as popular.

ItsAllTurnedToShit · 16/05/2010 12:10

Jarvis Cocker also has a DS called Albert. I love it.

lucy567 · 16/05/2010 08:06

Why do you think he would be teased?

I know of two Berties a baby and a six year old, very nice.

treas · 16/05/2010 00:00

Sorry - I wouldn't be sure either.

MunchkinsMumof2 · 15/05/2010 16:00

ds's best friend is called Bertie (Albertus) and I love it!

Jamieandhismagictorch · 15/05/2010 05:43

Sorry - to my ears it's twee. Good for a little boy - but a teenager and adult?

florence2511 · 15/05/2010 02:48

I love the name Bertie and will fight for it (even just as a middle name) should we have a son.

Rockbird · 14/05/2010 20:48

Kate Bush's little lad is Bertie...well, little lad who's probably about 16 by now!

ItsAllTurnedToShit · 14/05/2010 20:22

Thanks, he is very pleased and I'm coming round to the idea!

alfiemama · 14/05/2010 20:20

another vote from me, love Bertie, or Albie/Alby

belgo · 14/05/2010 20:20

Prefer Gilbert as the full name rather then Albert.

tummytickler · 14/05/2010 20:18

Bertie is cute. I would use Bertram or Gilbert as a full name though, but dh wont let me. Bertram is one of my favs of all time!

gingerbaby · 14/05/2010 20:18

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!

Sorry to shout in your face but this was my top name for DS until DH vetoed me during labour. Alby/Bertie were also our nn.

Is your DH me?

LetThereBeRock · 14/05/2010 20:14

I don't like it at all.Perhaps Albert as a middle name but not as a first.

mathanxiety · 14/05/2010 20:12

Not a dog's name, at least I'd never call a dog Bertie.

bunnymother · 14/05/2010 20:11

My brother is called Robert and most people call him Robbie, but I call him Bertie. I think its a nice nickname, although the Prince Albert connotations might be a bit off-putting / hard to live up to.

MamaLazarou · 14/05/2010 20:09

Your DH is talking sense. It's an excellent name.

traceybath · 14/05/2010 20:09

Yes - it did put me off unfortunately which was a shame as I had a wonderful Uncle Burt and think its a lovely name. Well after he explained to me what a Prince Albert was.

We went for Arthur in the end - would that be a contender?
