well said whatwasthat again

Northern will it piss you off to know that I have a double barrelled first name - totally poncetastic in this house - fortunately DH is common as muck

whatwasthatagain · 14/05/2010 18:46

DD1 has 10 syllables - and I luuurve Cordelia, (specifically named from King Lear) - she has it as a middle name but I secretly hope she will adopt one of its many abbreviations when she is older.

Northernlurker · 14/05/2010 18:45

Oh don't Skiddodly - every single time I see that I wish that they had got there in time....

dizzydixies · 14/05/2010 18:41

lol ZZZen - surely middle names are only there to appease family members with a mention/passports AND for shouting in the park as explained above

oh, hold on, DD3 is actually known by her MN so I supposed I've just fecked my own argument

skidoodly · 14/05/2010 18:41

No wait she alive, look breath stirs the feather...

oh no, sorry my mistake

ZZZenAgain · 14/05/2010 18:40

can't bl* count. She has 10 syllables
10

ZZZenAgain · 14/05/2010 18:40

dd - 15 syllables

never ever use the middle name for anything though other than passports

dizzydixies · 14/05/2010 18:38

ZZZen - I agree completely - too much like gusset

dizzydixies · 14/05/2010 18:37

including full first names, both middle names and 2 syllable surname we have the following:

DD1 has 8 syllables
DD2 has 11 syllables
DD3 has 10 syllables

and I shall muster my finest weegie accent whilst shouting them like a fishwife all the way down the park

ZZZenAgain · 14/05/2010 18:37

Gussie I definitely do not like though

Northernlurker · 14/05/2010 18:35

Hmm - mine have only got one middle name and a short surname but the first names are quite full of syllables....so how many have you got? I can muster

5, 5 and 8.......

oceryo · 14/05/2010 18:34

What weegiemum said. I do like Clementine though.

ZZZenAgain · 14/05/2010 18:32

don't like Clementine. NOt so very keen on Cordelia but it is ok, Augusta is ok. Allegra I quite like - sounds like she could have a bit more pizzazz than the rest.

I don't find they sound particulary posh, except maybe Augusta -rather grand but ok if you can carry it off.

dizzydixies · 14/05/2010 18:29

I shall be using the full first name AND both middle names each and if I'm very cross I may fling the surname out there too

Northernlurker · 14/05/2010 18:28

Any name sounds ponctastic in that context.

Except Sharon

dizzydixies · 14/05/2010 18:25

ah we've all got to die at some point though - I have to admit I was a tad swayed by Anne Of Green Gables too

all my girls have poncey names though and I can't wait to shout them in full when they're hiding in the park smoking and drinking cheap cider aged 15

Northernlurker · 14/05/2010 18:23

Yup dizzy - principled, loyal - and dead. Very, very dead.

Put me off anyway

Thanks for the compliment - I think they are lovely too We got in to a bit of a theme thing. Dd3 would have been Benedict if a boy and if we had another girl (which we aren't - 3 being enough) I think I would have gone for Viola....

TheFallenMadonna · 14/05/2010 18:23

I think they are both nice and poncey. Except Augusta - which I don't like.

I'm going to buck the trend and say I like Clementine best.

Fennel · 14/05/2010 18:21

I like them, especially Clementine.

TeamCarlise · 14/05/2010 18:20

Clementine makes me think of 'Chubby Clementine' by Bobby Darin.

LetThereBeRock · 14/05/2010 18:20

I love Cordelia but hate the others.

pointydog · 14/05/2010 18:18

p;oncey

DumpyOldWoman · 14/05/2010 18:17

Not sure I would call a little girl 'fast woman' - or a car.

weegiemum · 14/05/2010 18:17

Personally I think that sorry, but they are all poncy beyond belief.

Just my opinion though.
