Alexander (apparently it is a "weak" name
Cole

girls

Aida
Ayla
Zia
Nia

Harry (my close friend has an AWFUL horrid dog called it)
Christian
Frederick

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Eglu · 14/05/2010 14:16

DH also vetoed

Grayson

I love that name

Eglu · 14/05/2010 14:14

DH will not allow

Tabitha
Jemima
and possibly others, but can't remember.

DH's that I said no to

Dallas
Fife

ooosabeauta · 14/05/2010 14:06

Oh lucky you Lulu - I love that name. It's so pretty. Think we've come to a mutual agreement on potential dd's first name now but maybe I can sneak it in as a middle! Does she get called any shortened version by friends, out of interest?

LuluF · 14/05/2010 13:43

We have a Romilly - DH vetoed at first and then came round to it. He's no so accommodating with my other suggestions, though.

ooosabeauta · 14/05/2010 13:03

Jago, Hugo, Miles. Funny how these ones seem to be popular with some of us but not with them! Also Romilly, Clemence and Aquilina. The last one was a fleeting desire, I'm sure down to my hormones...

He suggested India, which seems mad because we haven't been to India. Maybe that's just me.

asdx2 · 14/05/2010 13:02

He didn't veto any of mine, I let him come up with suggestions and then I gave them the name that I wanted.
If I tell you among his suggestions were Simon,Susan, Troy and Paris then you can understand why I had the final say

swanandduck · 14/05/2010 12:55

Susannah, Olivia and Hazel for dd

Luke and Cal for ds.

withorwithoutyou · 14/05/2010 12:38

Rockbird are you able to say what your SILs DD's are called? We're still stuck for a name we agree on.

englishpatient · 14/05/2010 12:34

Barnaby

Daniel

Raahh · 14/05/2010 12:17

Dh has is being awkward with regards to all my choices- he is adamant it is his turn to name this one.
He has vetoed- Imogen , Claudia , and Florence (although he likes this, but it will inevitably be 'Flo'.

His suggestions have been Posy and India.

We clearly are not singing from the same hymn sheet!!

I have just posted on FB that i can't spend 20 weeks stressing about it, so our daughter will be called.....

Three

Simple, unique, option of lengthening to Number Three when older.....

OrmRenewed · 14/05/2010 12:14

Idony for a girl
Jago for a boy

Hedwig3 · 14/05/2010 12:09

dizietsma

Colette is gorgeous!

FingonTheValiant · 14/05/2010 12:08

Boys:
Phineas (I can sort of understand it)
Finnian (no good reason)
Fingolfin (I was annoyed about the veto for the other two, would have been superb if he'd said yes, but I would have wimped it)
Killian
Cassius

Girls:
Ariadne (apparently it sounds like "spider" in French)
Thea
Gaia
Elisabeth

xstitch · 14/05/2010 10:34

All of them Lonnie and he refused to come up with any alternative suggestions which was the final straw for me .

Can't help laughing at your dp saying Alexander was a weak name, I always thought it meant defender of mankind.

dizietsma · 14/05/2010 10:33

Gretchen (he was right)

Colette (not right)

Ursula/Ursa (not right)

Violet5 · 14/05/2010 10:32

My husband won't let me have Miranda or Violet which were my 2 favourite girls names
We've agreed on a boys name though this time.

hobbgoblin · 14/05/2010 10:29

Loads

Plum
Velvet
Aurelia
Kitty

To name a few...

TheBride · 14/05/2010 10:27

I'm actually considering calling DS1 "Lib-Con pact"

I feel it best reflects the fact that his name will be an uncomfortable compromise, the last possibility, having eliminated all the names which either DH or I love, but which the other one loathes

LuluF · 14/05/2010 10:26

I wanted 'Poppet' for a middle name for our DD1 (OK, I do have a penchant for names that could be used for cats, and particularly when pregnant!).

Dh likes names like 'Verity' and 'Harriet' - which are good names (so I guess I'm lucky, even though he suggested 'Yvonne' in all seriousness last time).

I'm toying with 'Titus', 'Rufus' and 'Sholto' in case we're having a boy this time. I just get a face.

flopsy1974 · 14/05/2010 09:52

DH vetoed Dominic for a boy - said it was a sissy name.
I on the other I vetoed George - my dad's name and Harry - His brother in laws name
I wanted our child to be an individual not have silly family members telling everyone that they were named after them.

Bicnod · 14/05/2010 09:22

I liked Daniel, Harry and Benjamin and DH vetoed all three. Hardly controversial names so not sure what his beef was with them

OrganicHairbrush · 14/05/2010 09:18

Almost everything I liked was hard to pronounce and/or had additional connotations in DH's first language.

And I really wanted Grace but DH said it was too common. So now whenever we meet a Grace I get an "I told you so" look. Unfortunately, too, his exW's name is one of my life-lone favourites, too

MamaLazarou · 14/05/2010 09:10

He vetoed lots of names while I was pregnant, but, after seeing what I went through giving birth, he changed his mind and said I could have whichever name I wanted!

Names he liked that I vetoed: Bruce, Kenneth, Iris, Ivy, Marianne.

Rockbird · 14/05/2010 09:06

Ha! My SIL wanted Eloise and despite 2 dds my brother has always vetoed it

withorwithoutyou · 14/05/2010 09:01

Eloise.

Still pregnant with an unnamed girl.

Still pissed off about not being allowed it.
