We have a thread for girls names so why not one for boys?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BridesheadRegardless · 11/05/2010 17:24

Seth
and
Joel

both hard to say and weird sounds.

Lizzylou · 11/05/2010 16:43

Only one DS is mentioned, though DH (Fimbo, how very dare you?), my Dad and all 3 of my brothers are mentioned.

If I had another DS he would have been Cassius, think it is lovely.

Ummm, boys names I dislike:

Ethan
Wayne/Dwayne
Gavin
Mervin

Loads more but have to go and see to my vacuous, dull, traditional DS1

LetThereBeRock · 11/05/2010 16:41

Archie
Stephen/Steven
Robert

I don't actually dislike that many names at all (which is something I've come to realise over the years of picking 2 boys names and now a girl's name and actually makes it a lot harder too!) but I guess the only kind of name I've ever thought 'Ooooooo nooo' at are ones that are just letters. I know of a little boy called 'TJ'..........

What a boring world it would be if we all liked the same names

Btw I'm pretty sure that my ds2 name counts as one lots of people wouldn't like as it has the 'surname' connotation (Sawyer) but I don't mind! I like it

Pointless getting offended over someone not liking your child's name as there is always SOMEONE who won't like it, so who cares !

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 11/05/2010 16:38

My children are lovely, and whilst I may be middle class I'm not boring, vacuous or dull and neither are my children

Nemofish · 11/05/2010 16:34

This is going to make me unpopular...

Oliver
Matthew
Harry
George

And to a lesser extent
Luke
James

Middle class, boring, vacuous, dull traditional names for vacuous, dull, traditional children. I know I am awful, I had to constantly grit my teeth at tots group...

I am sorry if you are reading this and have named your children any of the above. I am nice really, please don't take it personally, I'm sure your children are lovely.

MamaLazarou · 11/05/2010 16:31

Jack
Alfie
Archie
Ryan
Callum
Joshua
Jayden
Jordan
Charlie
Benjamin

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 11/05/2010 16:25

Me too Davey - but as a name it's OK

DaveyCameron · 11/05/2010 15:45

Really dislike Gordon.

Docbunches · 11/05/2010 15:38

Amazed that my DS's very common popular name not mentioned yet.

I know of someone who's just had a baby and named him Vinnie. I don't hate it, but I couldn't help thinking of Vinnie Jones, rather than a cute baby boy.

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 11/05/2010 15:29

Ds's name has only cropped up once, thankfully! I would echo what Maisiethemorningsidecat said.

I also can't stand Bruce or Stuart.

notso- where are you from? Trying to work out what accent would make those names sound bad!

Rossco · 11/05/2010 15:25

2 of my 4 DS's are here. Waiting to see if I can shout BINGO!

notso · 11/05/2010 15:23

I knew Ds's name would be here
Theres lots of boys names that are nice but sound awful when pronounced in the local accent so I would never call a son a name with an 'a' sound in it like Charlie or James, I know a Shay which sounds particularly bad.

I really dislike Jonty/Monty/StJohn/Ralph if pronounced Rafe/anything Brooklynesque

foreverastudent · 11/05/2010 15:18

dodgy geezer names like
lee
dave
kev
darren
gavin
barry
pete
trevor
wayne

tyson- rapist

pretentious new incarnations of old names like
oscar
alfie
albie
freddie

americzan names like
chad
dash
cash
chase

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 11/05/2010 15:00

Anything American

Anything made-up, or with a you-neeq spelling

Anything from Greek or Roman mythology - Trying Far Too Hard

Cyril, Trevor, Dennis and Nigel are particularly awful though (sorry, FIL )

downthecreek · 11/05/2010 14:50

I hate all the thuggish boys names. The teenage thugs round here are called Adam, Liam, Jack and Jake.

ebrookm · 11/05/2010 14:15

Tyler
Taylor
Eric
John
Terry
Dan
Evan
Griffin
Dudley
Edward
Brian
Liam
Lucas (I know four babies born and given this name in the past year)

...I can't stand the popular names. Once I found out Oliver was popular it immediately lost its luster for me. The best boys names are usually unpopular classic names I feel...

LetThereBeRock · 11/05/2010 14:11

Wayne
Reggie
Freddie
Alfie
Arthur
Charlie
Hector
Stanley
Paul
John
Ronnie

iloveasylumseekers · 11/05/2010 13:39

Both my DSs are on here - no real surprise - as even my mum thought they were middle aged and boring. We're ok, though, as my cunning plan of picking such dreadful names that they'd be the only ones in their school has worked brilliantly mwahahaha...
